It will depend on what your insurance company covers. You may want to call them and see what tests are covered or not. I know with mine, I paid my initial co-pay at my "confirming pregnancy" exam, then after that I don't have to pay any co-pays. I only had to pay for one of the blood tests, because it was through a lab my insurance company doesn't work with. Other then that, just my co-pay for the hospital visit.
It depends on your ob, delivery, how many ultrasounds, tests, etc. My total was somewhere between $30,000 and $35,000. DH and I only paid about $500-$600 after insurance. I stayed 5 days in the hospital, epidural, pitocin, cervadil, stadol, general anesthesia, c/s, plus an ultrasound every 2 weeks from week 20 on (my LO had kidney issues). I've heard some people rack up a bigger bill.
DS- +$0 for pre-natal care, hospital delivery, and post-partum OB care + $900 for a doula +$350 for Bradley classes + $2k for post-partum PT and chiro care for an extinuating circumstance resulting from the PG and delivery
LO2 $3,500 for pre-natal care with a MW, MW delivery (home or center), and post-partum MW care
My insurance covers 100% of OB/hospital care and 0% of non-hospital options.
My prenatal visits are covered 100%, a vaginal delivery will be covered, but my OB's fees are $2700, which we will have to pay $1000 of (basically the deductible).
Anything like hospital labs and drugs at time of delivery (epi if I get one, etc) are extra and I will be billed for those.

For my first pregnancy, when we had the ridiculously awesome insurance through my husband's job (he's a doc), it was $0. Now that we're on my terrible insurance it will likely be my $3000 deductible.
Your out of pocket expenses will be different based on your insurance, and of course where you are delivering and how your delivery goes. I paid $0 for the first two pregnancies, but our insurance changed and this time I think I'll owe like $600 to my OB. I'm not sure what it's going to end up being to the hospital. My first delivery ended up being a total of like $75k (c/s with complications, NICU stay), the second I think was more like $20k (normal, uncomplicated vaginal birth). Thankfully I have an out of pocket max so I won't be looking at numbers like that, lol.
Re: How much does it cost to have a baby?
I have bcbs though the state. They cover everything but the u/s. They also won't cover an epi or anything considered extra.
