I got 1 small and 1 medium sized Halo sleep sack at my work shower. How many do you suggest having in each size? (I got the ones without the swaddle part. I have lots of A&A swaddle blankets I plan on using when she is a newborn.) Thanks!
I like 2-3 for each season and size. Lighter cotton ones for summer and fleece ones for winter. You can reuse them over and over unless you get a pee or poo-splosion since they go over pajamas, so just having 1 backup has always been fine.
I was doing my registry yesterday and wondering about this. At what age do you stop swaddling and start using sleep sacks?
FTM, so no experience. But I've been told it really varies by each baby. Some never like to be swaddled, some for a couple months, some for longer. Like so many other things, it looks like it's up to whatever your baby wants.
We swaddled DD until she was about 6 months old and then started using sleep sacks. We had 3-4 swaddles and 4-5 sleep sacks. She was a big spitter-upper, so we went through a lot of laundry.

This, depending on how often you do laundry.
I have two other littles so I wash clothes a lot. I have 1-2 in the 2 smallest sizes, 1 fleece & 1 cotton. I put a onesie below the sleepsack so you shouldn't have to wash it after each wear.

A&A also makes sleep sacks in a couple of different thicknesses - we loved them!
my son always got out of his swaddles. even the store bought ones, so he was in his sleep sack at about a week old. it was winter so there were fleece, although if we have another boy i'll still use the fleece ones even in the summer because with ac it will be the same temp inside. i personally like the full arm (0-9 months) carters or baby of mine brand. it worked for us, hoping this baby likes them too. lol. i had 3 sleep sacks and rotated them around as needed. he just slept in it so it's not like it got super dirty.
I would only get 1....my child hated being swaddled, so I had a lot of expensive sacks and swaddling blankets that had been washed and all that I could not return.
DD#1 11.7.07 - DD#2 11.2.10 (3rd Tri Loss)- DD#3 4.18.12
I personally would wait until you decide what you like before you buy multiples in all sizes. We started with Halo swaddle sacks and thought I loved them, but then realized that the summer infant swaddleme's worked much better for us (since you didn't have to wiggle arms in and out of holes if they happen to be sleeping). Then when he was bigger I switched back to the halo sleep sacks without the swaddle and found out he can't tolerate the polyester/fleece and sweats like a maniac when he's wearing them. So nowwwww we're "investing" in a freaking $80 Merino sleep sack that will hopefully work.
