We are hoping to wait until we find out the gender to announce that we're expecting. I have a cousin who has been trying for a long time to conceive and we weren't even planning to have #2 yet. I'm wondering how long I can hide it, how fast everyone else has been showing and when everyone announced #2.
Also, should I tell my cousin privately so she has time to adjust before I announce it all to my whole family?
Re: How early did you show with #2
I have a very similar situation. I too have a cousin who has been trying for a long time and we weren't really planning on #2 this early. I did tell her privately because I know that when others have told her of their pregnancies it's upsetting and she usually needs time to mentally adjust. I understand you want to wait but you may consider telling her earlier than the others if you have a close relationship. It may be hard for her to hide her emotions if you announce in front of everyone. If she knows beforehand she might do better....(that is of course if you can trust her not to say anything)
I also feel like I am already showing and I definitely won't be able to hide it as long as with my first. My SIL has a baby shower in March and I feel I will have to tell the family before then!
I feel like it's totally obvious right now that I'm pregnant but I could just be my own worst critic. I see a bump - others probably see that I'm gaining weight. haha.
I would tell your cousin privately - it's a very respectful thing to do. Let her know you understand if she cries with frustration instead of joy. I know she'll be happy for you but as someone who had a really hard time TTC, it's always a kick to the gut and a shock to the heart to hear a pregnancy announcement, much less someone on #2.
My bump popped out at 10 weeks. =( It looks like a baby bump so everyone congratulates me but they think i'm much further along than i actually am.
I would tell your cousin first. She would appreciate the thoughtfuness, i'm sure. Good luck!
Thanks everyone. I just called my nurse and I think I'm 5w2d. I will be 10 weeks at another cousin's baby shower. My cousin who is TTC is on #2 and she doesn't have IF problems she just has very few periods a year and also the negative RH thing. I guess I was hoping to give her a little more time to get a BFP but I might just have my hopes up that it's right around the corner.
So...will I be showing at 10 weeks or 14 weeks (Easter)? I was hoping to keep it a secret until 18 weeks since on my first pregnancy I didn't have a bump until 18-20 weeks. Thoughts? Thanks for your comments!
pPROM at 27 weeks, Birdy born at 28 weeks at 2lb 7oz.
Good luck with that
I had people gossiping at 8 weeks with #2...but I was only 8 months pp.
I was in maternity pants at 9 weeks with #2, but it was not totally obvious to others that it was a baby bump until about 11-12 weeks (didn't show until 20 weeks with #1). I am totally bigger this time around but I did get pregnant 2 months after having DD.
I would tell your cousin privately first. She may be a little sad or not react well, and it's probably better if that happens privately rather than in front of friends and family.
Good luck!
