Preparing DS for Sibling?

Is there anything I should be doing to prepare my DS for the arrival of his brother in two months?  DS will be 16-months then.  I have read a lot of suggestions for those with kids around 3-years-old, but I just think DS won't really grasp those concepts his age now.

I was thinking about setting up all the baby gear (swing, bouncer, etc) at the beginning of March so the novelty of these 'new' items will wear off by April.  We talk about the 'baby' a lot and he has started to say 'baby'.  I even found an old soft doll of mine that we keep out and he will occasionally go over and kiss and hug the baby.  Any other suggestions?

Overall I'm not worried about the transition b/c I babysit and 6-month old and 3-year-old (along w/ my son) one day a week so he sees me with a baby, but not everyday of the week--all day long, you know?

I think you're doing great already. The only other thing I can think of is to make any big changes now - or wait until your DS is used to the new baby. For instance, if you were thinking of transitioning your son in a toddler or big boy bed so the baby could have the crib, I would do it long enough ahead of time so that he doesn't feel the baby "stole" his crib, YKWIM?

Seems like you are doing the right things, we are due with #2 in 6 weeks and have asked DD if she wants to kiss her brother in mommy's belly (she enjoys doing this--and sometimes pulls up my shirt and gives it a big kiss). Also bought a book about being a big sister. Also not sure if she gets it, or will get it. Hoping for the best!
