I've read a lot about "a squirt of blue dawn".  Do you literally just do a quick squeeze?  I don't think I could do any damage by adding too much, I'd just have to rinse a lot, but I want to make sure I dont mess up the diapers or my machine.

Also, do you put it in the detergent dispenser?  I have a front loader if that makes any difference.

I'm too chicken to add Dawn to my machine. I have used it in the tub, let the diapers soak overnight and did a couple rinses before doing the rest of the rinses in the washer. Even then, I was nervous about the amount of suds in my washer. Plenty of people do it without issue, but it just makes me nervous. Sorry...not very helpful!

this is my vote with a front loading machine.  suds are very dangerous. I'd put them in the tub hand scrub each one some, then let soak overnight.  rinse rinse rinse in the tub them move to the washing machine for more rinses with rlr or calgon.
