Hey Ladies,
Just a quick question for those that delivered at Northside. I've heard from several people(that delivered at various hospitals) that the hospital will give you the tubing, shields, repacement parts, etc that go with a pump. I'm borrowing the Medela PISA from my bff and not sure if I need to purchase these items now or if i'll just get them. I've only seen Amazon carry, so if I can avoid shipping something I don't need back, that would be easier.
THANKS!!!
Re: Northside delivery and breastfeeding
With DS1, the LC brought me a pump to use and I kept everything she gave me. I used a hospital grade one and all the parts fit my PISA at home. DS1 was 9lb12oz so that's why she brought me the pump.
With DS2, I brought everything with my PISA to the hospital. I still asked to see an LC and they came every day even through I really didn't need them too.
That's really odd! My friend just had a baby and had no problems getting an LC to come to the room. She was a FTM through so maybe that makes a difference. I don't know.
Also to the OP, I got tubing and everything I needed at New Baby Products in Buckhead. You have to ask for the tubing b/c they don't keep it on the shelf like everything else. Also Target has a good selection except tubing.

October in generally is really busy up there at least that's what they told me in October 2010 when I had Bryce. I also think the nursing staff hears you are a 2nd time mom and it changes some things. With Bryce, we hardly ever saw anyone whcih wasn't a huge deal since we'd just been there 15 months previously. The only thing that got me was we had to constantly ask for my pain meds then one nurse ended up doubling my percoset which made me sick the day I left. This time I've already told dh to keep a spreadsheet of when I was the medicines/what the med is so we know that I'm not getting doubled up on.
Ditto slw. I delivered at Kennestone too and had no problem seeing a LC and the LC even offered the parts. They bill your insurance so it isn't like the hospital is eating the cost. But they can only bill your insurance for the parts if you are an in-patient. Once you go home they can't bill.
