Teething cough?

Anyone else's LO's "fake" coughing?  DD started this yesterday.  It sounds like she's got a tickle in her throat and I have to admit, it's kind of cute.

Dr. Google says that it could be a symptom of teething and is used as a coping mechanism to prevent baby's from choking on excess drool.  A friend of mine said her DS did the same thing.

MIL is insisting that she's got a hair or something stuck in her throat, but I don't really believe it.

Re: Teething cough?

  • It's funny that you brought this up because my LO is doing the same thing. I don't have an answer for you, but I plan on asking her doctor if she's still doing it when we go for her 6 month checkup. She cut her first tooth 2 weeks ago and a second is very close so I think it may be connected to teething. I do not think anything is caught in her throat. I also thought maybe it was just a new sound she discovered or a new way to get our attention. Whatever the reason, unlike you, I'm not finding it cute anymore, lol!

  • Yup it's teething. DD has been doing it for a while now and I asked at out last appt. DR said that's all it was. Trying not to choke on drool.
