Those who ran while pregnant

Did any of you... umm leak... urine?

If so when did it start? I'm just under 20weeks and pretty sure I was leaking during this last run.

  • I ran until about 20 weeks last time and then stopped because it got icy and I hate the treadmill. This time I made it unitl about 30 weeks before I quit.  I never had trouble with leaking while pregnant--although I know it is VERY common. A  good friend of mine had to quit at 20 weeks because she couldnt' stop peeing.  My problem was after delivery.  In my first post-baby 5k (about 12 week post baby) I peed my shorts as I crossed the finish line!! Embarrassing!!!!

  • I never leaked during pregnancy and I ran up until the day I was induced.  Make sure you're emptying your bladder regularly and doing your kegels!

  • one thing I have learned in pregnancy is always use the bathroom before you go omewhere! and I would run on routes that had a bathroom on the way! I never leaked but had a time or two where i just had a sudden urge to pee, but luckily i was always almost home! I just stopped running in january,and stick to walking now

  • I didn't, but some days I had to stop and pee every mile or so : /

  • No, but I did have a LOT of discharge every time I ran.  Sorry this is TMI but I seriously thought my water broke several times because of all the discharge.  I ran until 41 weeks 2 days.

  • I've never leaked but I have to pee frequently.  I go right before I run and then again a couple miles in.  after that I am ok for the duration unless I am running 10+ miles. 

    Total TMI but I've had horrible discharge.  It scares me at times.  I feel wetness and think maybe I am bleeding or leaking fluid and then run to the bathroom only to find that its discharge.  My doctor has OK-ed running but said to stop if I spot or leak water/fluid.

  • I didn't have that problem until AFTER baby and it continues a year later. The doctor recommends Kegel exercises, but they say you should see results after 12 weeks. I usually forget, therefore still have the problem. Be sure to empty your bladder and wear a pad when running. It's inconvenient, but it's better than peeing yourself!
  • I haven't had it happen since Saturday and that was the only day it did. I don't think I emptied my bladder very well and went for 3+miles

    Went Tuesday for 2 miles empty bladder was fine.

    Wednesday, empty bladder and fine.

    I thought I had peed enough Saturday but guess I was wrong.
