Is there a forward-facing position for the moby?

We usually do the hug hold but DS is getting frustrated with it because he wants to look around more and not just from side to side when he's facing in. Both the website and the instruction booklet only show positions where LO is facing in. I figure the happier I can keep him, the longer I can wear him without him flipping out.

TIA :)

Re: Is there a forward-facing position for the moby?

  • Yes. Search YouTube and you'll find some vids. My dd loves to face out.
  • Loading the player...
  • Facing out legs froggied is healthier for baby's hips than hanging bjorn-style.

  • Facing out is NO longer recommended in the Moby, which is why it is no longer in their instruction booklet.

Try doing a hip carry if he wants to look around, or  get a carrier that you can use for back carries. These are much better for his hip/spine development

Why is it no longer recommended? I wish I had known that before I bought the Moby so I could have purchased something with more versatility. Boo.

From what I understand, facing out basically at all is no longer recommended (unless frogged, like PP suggested...which isn't easy to do for long I don't think).  I think this is why...bad for baby's hips to do a crotch dangle, facing in or out.

Yep basically what pp said, although the froggied position isnt optimal for hip and spine either.
