Am heading to get a maternity belt, and just curious about whether I should expect the pain in my hips to be relieved instantly or if it takes some time. I figure if it should be instant and I don't find relief, then I don't want to waste the money. On the other hand I also wouldn't want to buy one that costs twice as much if the one for $18 will work...What was your experience like? TIA!

I got the Mini Cradle belt from Amazon....my belly isn't that big so I figured I'd try it and then upgrade to the more rigid style when I do get bigger. For the last month I have had horrible SPD. I've found that the belt with physical therapy, being cognizant of not being weight bearing on one leg, trying not to do too many hip abduction movements and doing Kegels/pelvic floor muscle exercises has really helped me bet the past 10 days. My pain is almost non-existent now except during the night when turning over ( even with my knees together!) and when I forget and bear weight on one leg!
Hope that helps...know the pain and it sucks!
I wore the Prenatal Cradle until my SPD diagnosis. Now I wear the $30 back brace from BRU. It's pretty wide. But I wear it around my hips, not my belly, to suck them in.
No, not at all instant. It doesn't HURT, but I'm not really sure it's helping.
My doc recommended this one from vitamedMD
