Hello all! My husband and I are expecting our first child this August and though we know little about cloth diapering, we know it's what we want to do. I'm sure this is a popular question on this board, but we were wondering which brand of CDs you all have experiences with and would recommend. I've heard great things about BumGenius and Fuzzibunz. Also, we'd like to begin a stash soon, could you recommend quantities and what exactly we need. Do we need newborn and a one size or do the one size fits all really fit all? Thanks so much for all your help and advice.
Re: New Here! Help needed:)
Check the FAQ in the upper right of the board and the review sheet (in the FAQ and in my siggy) for brands. Note the tabs at the bottom of the sheet.
Different diapers work differently based on baby size and shape, so no one brand is best for everyone.
FAQ has quantities and other stuff you'll want.
Most newborns will not fit a one-size diaper for 1-2 months. Some fit in 2 weeks, some need 12. You can either buy newborn stuff (and use for more babies or sell it after you're done) or you can plan to use disposables for a little while.

Welcome to the board!
Check out the FAQs and lurk for a while to help you get familiar with CDs. My biggest advice is to not buy all of one brand of CDs to start. You may not like them, or they may not be the best fit. CDs are a lot like shopping for jeans. Some fit okay, but nothing special. Some make you want to cry in the dressing room. Then there is the magical pair that make heads turn when you walk by. Which brands those are for your baby you won't know until they get here.
my favorite and most cost effective that i have found is by justsimplybaby.com
they are from 10-12 a cd and they have 30 money back gaurentee, they do all their own video tutorials and are available for any questions you might have! I love them!
these are the one size kind so you just adjust the snaps as you go and what fit my son can easilly be made to fit my 4 yr old niece in a pinch (size wise not that she needs them)
the big thing to know is dont i repeat dont get velcro! it sticks to everything in the wash and wears out more quickly than snaps
I tried flip and kushies and hated them
hope this helps
God bless

See, I have some snaps and a bunch of velcro. I much prefer the velcro. My boy won't stay still and having to snap the snaps is an ordeal. I just do the velcro covers up inside out when they hit the diaper pail (the laundry tabs didn't work for long).
My stash is mostly Kawaii, which run $6-10 each.

my son is a very active 13 mo old who hates having his diaper changed... you get used to the snaps quickly... the velcro just gets gross
I just meant: different strokes for different folks. It makes sense to try both when you get into it. I don't think velcro is gross. I think it's great. That doesn't mean you agree, and that's fine.

I am a FTM and my little guy is just under 2mos. Don't invest your $ in Fb and/or BG until you know what works for you! I wanted to do Thirsties pockets but they don't fit my lil guy right, neither do FB pockets. I do like the BG's OS and we love dinkledooz pockets....it is just a personal preference. I bought a stash off craigslist to find out what I would like and now have sold the ones we didn't like and invested in more of our favorites. G Diapers also fit my lil guy amazing so we have some of those also, they are a little more fit and trim than the others we like.
And to the posters above, I love snaps and my husband loves velcro...definitely a personal choice!
