Did my dog mess with my bbt?

I had to jump out of bed this morning bc my dog was making those "I'm about to puke" sounds. After letting her out and cleaning up the mess I took my temp. Luckily it is at least close to the normal time. However I know ur not supposed to talk walk etc before taking ur temp. So my question is, does your bbt go up or down after u wake up? I would guess it goes up but couldn't find the answer? My temp wasn't really out of whack or anything but since I'm hopefully nearing my o date I was curious.

I think I read on FF that it really depends on the person. Your temp might go down once you get up and are walking around because your body is surrounded by the cooler air, as compared to your warm cozy bed. Other times it might go up. That's why FF doesn't recommend adding or subtracting any temp points if you were up before taking your temp. I have a feeling that most of the time my temp goes down a tiny bit after I am up. It definitely goes down if you are talking/drinking something because those activities cool down your mouth area (unless you are drinking something hot).

This is a great question because I was wondering the same thing today.

I toss and turn a lot in the morning so recently I've been taking my temp as soon as I wake up and again when I am ready to get out of bed. (about 15-20 minute difference) Each time my temperature has gone DOWN by 2-5 degrees. FWIW, I record the first temperature.

Better to record it once you remembered to take it than to just let it go--if FF thinks that something is out-of-whack, they'll turn it into an open circle.

Life is never perfect--sleeping is hard business sometimes!  Personally, I know that my temp can be both higher and lower once I'm out of bed, just depends on the day.
