I got my bloodwork back from the doctor and my thyroid levels are fine, but I have very low progesterone and low estrogen as well. Low progesterone mimics many of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, so it makes sense given all my symptoms. The doctor wasn't there for me to talk to (a nurse called) and I have a lot of questions about it...I only really know about having low progesterone in relation to being pregnant, which I most definitely am not!
I really want to know what causes low progesterone and are there any natural ways to increase it. Dr. Google isn't being especially helpful for that one! The nurse told me that lifestyle choices affect your progesterone levels and encouraged me to eat healthy and exercise, both of which I already do. The only other things that were suggested were a) get more sleep (which I know I need to do) and b) get on hormonal BCPs (which I really don't want to do b/c they make me crazy).
Does anyone have experience with this? I'm going to get a referral to an
endocrinologist, but I'm impatient and don't want to wait through the
weekend to get questions answered.

That would be great. Emailing you now!
When I initially went to see my ob/gyn, the PA I saw suggested that it might be low progesterone (this was before I had my blood work back). She wrote me a script for progesterone cream that you rub into your arm. Of course, I never filled it b/c it was my thyroid.
All this to say, apparently there is a cream you can use, too

Thanks so much, everyone! I'm going to have to process this stuff in the morning - I've been researching all evening and I'm not comprehending things like I should anymore.
I have mixed emotions about this - on the one hand, I'm glad to have an answer to why I feel so sh*tty all the time, but it also sucks to have something that needs fixing!
el_twirpo - glad my blog addictions are helpful to others! :-)
