January 2012 Moms

But how are you??

Everyone talks about there LOs but I want to know how the moms are feeling. I am 3 weeks pp and still in pain. I am a big sissy but the rhoids are still terrible and my episiotomy still aches most of the time. Is it normal?

Re: But how are you??

  • Yes, it is 100% normal.  I was in pain for like 12 weeks with DS1... I had a hard time with the recovery.

I am 4 weeks pp with LO2.  I had an emergency csection.  I actually feel pretty good... better than I did the first time.  The baby sleeps decently, and we hvae been sending DS1 to daycare full time while I recover.  Today was my first day home with both boys and DS1 was puking all day long with a stomach virus... it was not fun.

Things are just a lot different the second time around.  It is much easier to deal with a newborn this time, and it probably helps that the recovery is a lot better for me.

  • I'd say that is totally normal. I was expecting to be in pain for a much longer time.

Honestly I am doing pretty well. DH stayed home for a week a half (this was his first week back) and I think that helped since I didn't have to do much in the beginning. I had a fairly easy labor, though, and my episiotomy seems to be healing well. BFing is still tough and painful, but we're working through it.

  • I feel very lucky because 3 days pp I didn't even feel like I had ever been pregnant or given birth. At this point the only issue is the pain I feel breastfeeding. I often cry during feeding sessions.
  • I just realized I am guilty of one of my biggest pet peeves...I used 'there' when I meant 'their.' In my own defense, I was cuddling a newborn :)

  • You are not alone.  I am 2 1/2 weeks pp and I still cannot sit upright completely.  My stiches hurt - espeically since they are off to the side - my hemmies are better - but that is only because I called my OB about them and the called in supportories for them and they help alot.

  • This is going to sound terrible but I have felt perfectly fine since almost the moment he came out.  I was in labor for 17 hours, pushed for 2, had a 2nd degree episiotomy, and I never felt pain from any of it.  I expected to be in pain after, and I wasn't.  I consider myself very lucky.  Breastfeeding has been going well, the only thing I really miss is sleep!! My LO is a bit of a fussyman...

  • Physically I feel great.  This was my 3rd c/s and I feel like I'm doing pretty good.  Friends and family have been bringing us meals which helps a TON.

We've had a lot of trouble with the boys' behavior (towards us, not the baby) which has made this very difficult.  Plus both big boys are sick and not sleeping.  Baby sleeps great, up once or twice at night and that's it.  DS2 was up every two hours last night.  DH and I are fighting like crazy bc we don't have patience anymore.

He goes back to work Monday and although it will be good to have some time apart, I think I might fall apart then.  How will I shower? When will I eat? How will I get DS1 to school on time?

I really do think it's next week that I will become a wreck.  Tongue Tied

  • Im sorry..that sucks..Im not sure if it is normal or not. I was recovered after about 5 days and am feeling great.  I had a pretty easy labor of 8 hours and 45 minutes of pushing.

Maybe see your dr.  I also had a episiotomy but also..healed incredibly fast.  Good luck babe.  :)

  • I am still in some pain. I tore naturally and it went up, down, and sideways. The sideways stitches hurt. Nothing tremendous, but enough to make me keep taking pain mess. I am too scared to look. I hope it isn't infected or busted open (both worst case scenarios). It is just probably due to my bad posture or attempt to sit Indian style on the floor with DS during tummy time.

  • I'm 6 days pp and I'm hurting. I have fibromyalgia and I'm in a flare. Pumping is so painful because of way I have to hold the collection bottles. My neck, shoulders, back and legs hurt. My girlie bits are healing and are a little painful but it's getting better. I had a second degree tear and my stitches feel tight.

  • I am 10 days and still hurting. I am still bleeding a fair amount and have not looked to see the damage. I also feel worried that I pulled a stitch or have an infection. SITZ baths really help and using the squirt bottle each time I use the bathroom and then in the shower is also relieving.  Try the ice pack and TUCKS combo for some added relief.

Ironically, at 4 days PP I felt great, like 100% and I think that I pushed myself too much up and down the stairs, sitting, squatting, kneeling with LO and by the next day I was so sore that I could barely move.
