Trying to Get Pregnant

First Response Fertility Test?

anyone familiar with or have used this?

The FIRST RESPONSE Fertility Test for Women detects FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), on Day 3 of a woman?s menstrual cycle in order to assess her ovarian reserve, an indicator of fertility. Women who want to assess their ability to conceive may find the results of this test useful.

Re: First Response Fertility Test?

  • It's a bunch of BS.

Why do you think you need this?  If you are having issues getting pg (more then a year).  Then you should a) be charting to see if you're o'ing or b) go see a dr.

Also these tests can't tell if your tubes are block or if your dh's sprem sucks.

  • I took the test because it came free w/ my HPTs and it was another stick to pee on.  I couldn't figure out the results.  The line was so much skinnier than the control line that I couldn't tell if it was the same color, lighter or darker.  It was really frustrating.  The girls on here told me it was useless and there's no way to do a home FSH test as a doctor would measure FSH levels against many other factors.

    K. I wouldn't take one. Also it takes the avg. couple a year to get pg. But you can look into charting, it really will help you to get to know your body. You could check out "taking control of your fertility" it tells you all about charting.

    Good luck.

That's actually not true.  The average is six months.

That test is still garbage though.

  • We've been TTC for over a year, we have both gotten tested and all was well, I would recommend buying basal body thermometer and recording daily morning temps online via FertilityFriend.com, it's free. The reason I recommend it is because that's only way you will know if and when you ovulate and also it's great for me because I know when AF is coming (my temp drops back down below coverline that morning). I took my RE the charts when I had appointment so she could see I was indeed tracking ovulation, regular cycles and having sex during fertile days.
    Me: 32, DH: 34.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.
    FET, 2 frosties (June 13, 2014)

    14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).
  • Funny - I have the same thing (came with the HPTs) and wondered wtf it was for. I will just trash it. Stupid worthless stick! Give me a free HPT instead!

thanks! this will be my third month and i've just been using opk's... i know they don't confirm o but i was just using them to stay more aware. curious - was your RE able to determine anything from reading your charts? i'd think that would be helpful to document if it does take us some time. i'll probably start charting next month if it's needed. good luck to you!
