i thought it was legit (albeit somewhat harsh) advice.... I didn't notice it getting bad and I just looked an hour ago..

Long story short. Her SD saw BM throw a cup of coffee at her DH and then a cup of cider at her, and her DH kept shutting the door and telling BM to get out of the car. BM's sister finally got SD in the car so she didn't see everything. BM also jumped on the hood of their car and punched the window. Now, SD is angry at them for hurting her mom and BM told her a bunch of lies. So the lady didn't know how to tell her SD the truth.

Mans I could not tell for sure but it sounded like DH was shutting the door physically ON BM, OP never denied that DH hurt the BM when he repeatedly closed it.  OP also said that she had colorful words for BM in front of SD.
