My Dr. called me today to inform me that my bw indicated that I may have PCOS... I started to freak out, but she said it wasn't a big deal and that I needed to set up an appointment to talk about going on Clomed....
Has anyone been through this? Of course I researched it some online, but I still don't know enough about it. We have been ttc for months now, but all these new problems are totally new to me... Help!
Thanks!
Re: PCOS?
i have pcos. i think a good amount of women out there do, youd be surprised how common it seems to be.
Don't freak out. As scary as it sounds, you'd be surprised by how common PCOS really is. I was diagnosed with it last year and was comforted by the fact that I'm not alone.
Despite me having PCOS, my husband and I have attempted to TTC on our own. Unfortunetly, we are having no success so Clomid is our next step and are going to try it next cycle, whenever that may start- so I'll let you know how that works!
This board is super educational and full of informative women so feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks for the advice!!! You are right, it's nice to know that I am not alone... I am guessing that we too will start the clomed next cycle as well. Keep me posted on your results!
Thanks again!
Ditto. It's pretty common. My Gynae didn't talk to me on the phone about it either so I wouldn't be upset about that. I had a consult with him and he explained everything. Because there are so many symptoms, it can be frustrating process to figure out exactly what is wrong and implement something to fix it so prepare yourself for that. Clomid doesn't work for everyone. It didn't for me this time and I am going onto BCP for one month to get my cysts to go away and then start a combo of Clomid and injectible FSH.
On a lighter note, I conceived my son first cycle on 50mg Clomid. That can happen too
Good luck.
Good luck
pcos affects 10% of all women, it is the #1 cause of infertility. However, it is only now that doctor's are diagnosing it properly. If you aren't already, you should be seeing an RE. They will monitor you properly while doing medications, especially clomid. Most OBs just give it out like candy without proper monitoring.

As it was explained to me, PCOS is basically a hormonal imbalance. For a lot of women (but not all) it can be tied with insulin resistance, so you might want to have your insulin levels checked. If you are IR, your RE can put you on Metformin, and that may help you ovulate! If it doesn't, the combo of Met and Clomid(or Femara) has helped many women as well.
Basically, there isn't a "cure" for PCOS, but you can control the symptoms and lead a fairly normal life.
