TTC after 35

3 losses

Hi Everyone. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck having a baby after numerous miscarriages? I have just had my 3rd now and hate to say I am feeling a little hopeless now.

Re: 3 losses

  • Welcome.  I'm so sorry for your losses.  There are lots of ladies who've had success after multiple losses; you might want to post your question on the Pregnant After a Loss board to hear some success stories from over there.  And you'll probably get good recommendations for next steps from both that board and the TTC After a Loss board.  (There are probably ladies here who can help, too, but those boards are specially geared for ladies who have experienced miscarriages.)  Good luck.

If what you are looking for is an over 35 success story see my siggy, (4 losses).  I stick to the 35+ boards myself but was lurking here to keep tabs on the ladies I root for and wanted to give you some hope since there was a time when I couldn't find anyone like me who tested out completely "unexplained" over such an extended time frame with as many losses as me.  I have been in your shoes and it is not easy, but it CAN happen, you need to seek out an RE to make sure you have the best and most complete testing so you have as much information as possible to know how to appropriately move forward and then try to stay positive.  While it took us an extraordinarily long time to get this far we did up conceiving this little boy naturally, though we were preparing ourselves for IVF with a fertility clinic.  Good Luck!

I'm so sorry for your losses.  I've had 4 m/c's & understand well how isolating & devastating each loss can be.  If your RE or OB hasn't done testing, please request they do an RPL (recurrent pregnancy loss) panel.  These blood tests will check for autoimmune, thyroid & clotting issues.   I was found to have MTHFR (which interferes w/B vitamin utilization & clotting) & was started on anticoagulants.  The only successful pregnancies I've had occurred when I was medicated.  I was 38 when I had our 1st & am currently 40 & pregnant w/our 2nd.

I hope you find some answers soon.  Please try not to be discouraged.  This is a hard journey, but there is definitely hope.  :)

  • Welcome to the board. I'm sorry for your losses.

Others have given you good advice and I hope you and your doctor can figure out what's going on.

    Good luck!

  • I'm so sorry for your losses.  I can't offer any success stories (yet) but I wanted to let you know that I know how you feel.  I've had 4 miscarriages in the last two years - all unexplained.  Sometimes I wish they could just find something wrong with me so we can fix it.  Both my husband and I keep testing fine so we've decided to go the IVF route with PGD testing.  It's going to let us test the embryos before they are implanted to make sure that they are healthy as well.  We weren't sure what else to do and I'm nervous to try again on my own.  We had one failed cycle so far (none of the embryos made it to testing) but I just started my second cycle this weekend with a different protocol that I hope works.

I agree with the others about getting the tests done.  If you have already done that and it still shows nothing you may want to ask your RE about PGD testing.

    Good luck!
