Has anyone done Couch to 5k?

I want to start it on Monday. I was never able to run long distance or anything but before DD I was able to run 3 miles at a time. I've been back at the gym for three months but I get so lazy on the treadmill..I end up walking more than running. I know if I was motivated enough I could just train my body back into running but I like the idea having the program in front of me to tell me what to do!

  • I tried it. It works decent I guess but I never finished the program. What finally worked for me was measuring out a 5k route, running as far as I could then walking until I felt like running again. I knew the marker for the first 1/4 mile, mile, and 1.6 (my turnaround).

  • I love it. I am about half way thru the program now. I do every week 2x. Its hard for me to find time because I work 40h/week and I go to school 3nights/week, but so far it has been working out really well. I can def see the change in my stamina, even if I am not a regular worker-outer (is that a word?). I was never a runner growing up (unless going towards cake, or being chased!), but this has been a great way to ease into it.

My sister started the program last spring, and she has run 2 half marathons and several 5k's, and the Great Urban Race with me. She had great success with it, (even with 2 very demanding little ones!)

    Best of luck!!

  • I did it last winter and completed numerous 5k's, 5 milers, a 10k, 2 half marathons, and a tri this year.

Love the program!  Take it week by week and don't get overwhelmed.

If you need to repeat a week, no worries!

    Best of luck!
