Trying to Get Pregnant

Vertigo anyone?

I was standing at the printer in our teacher's lounge and all of a sudden everything started spinning, but not like I was dizzy.  I just felt so weird!!  It was the craziest thing and when I was walking outside to the playground, I felt like all of my weight was on my right side and I kept leaning that direction.  I've never experienced this before so I'm not sure what caused it, but I also got my first ever case of heartburn this week.  I can only chalk it up to coming of BCP at the beginning of the month.

Anybody else experienced this?  Do you have any idea what might cause it?

Re: Vertigo anyone?

  • Inner ear problems can cause dizziness or vertigo. That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

  • I have Vertigo.  I have had it since I was 20(I am 30 now).  Usually you get it because of old age or if you have had a head injury.  I do not fit under either.  I went to a specialist and they did testing.  I have what is called positional vertigo.  If go from standing up to laying down on the bed quickly the room will spin about 3 times and I have to close my eyes.  If I turn over quickly I get it also.  Any type of faster positional change I get it.  I also have what is called top shelf vertigo.  If I am standing and look up above me to put something on a shelf the room will spin and I have to close my eyes.  Vertigo is caused by these crystals in your inner ear that are floating around(they should be stationary) because they float around your balance is all off and that is why you feel the spinning.  Your body does not know where it is in relative to space for that moment.  In the last 2 years I have had two scary bouts of Vertigo.  For about 8 hours I could not move out of bed.  If I even turned my head or moved my head slightly I felt so nauseous and I could not see anything because it would all blur...I was so dizzy I could not walk.  It then would finally go away.  What works the best is going to a physical therapist who specializes in the vestibular system.  They do these exercises with your head that knock the crystals back into place so the Vertigo goes away.  It works great, but does not mean the crystals will stay there.  Vertigo can come back here and there throughout life(like it has for me).

  • A couple weeks ago, I experienced a dizzy spell so bad that it almost put me into an anxiety attack. I had to step outside to get some fresh air & I called MH. For the next 15 minutes or so, I felt very "buzzed" as I walked around my house.

It eventually subsided, & I still have no idea where it came from. :/

  • I get it if I turn my head quickly and sometimes just randomly like you described.  I'll be sitting or walking and all of a sudden feel as though I'm about to just keel over.

  • I've experienced this off and on and I've noticed that I get it when I take too much of vitamin B3 (Niacin). I know it can cause dizziness when overdone. Since I've cut back, I haven't had it.
  • Are you having a sinus problems? If I go to bed with a stuffy nose and get up to use the restroom at night I will feel dizzy and as you described weight on one side I feel like that except all my weight is forward and I walk as if Im falling forward.. It's one of the weridest things that has ever happend to me. But I figure its my sinuses affecting my ears making me feel werid. The best thing to do is just take a deep breathe close your eyes and hold still till it passes. If you panic it will be worse. Goodluck.

  • Yes, I had problems with this last week.  I had stopped taking my allergy medication for a couple days, and when I restarted I felt a whole lot better.

  • I was just standing there so I don't think it's positional.  It only lasted for about 20 - 30 minutes because I think by the time we were coming in from recess it had passed.  I did start to panic a bit because I didn't know if I was going to pass out or what.  I didn't feel sick or anything, just weird.  Anyway, as I read more about it I think I've narrowed it down to 2 causes.  Either due to congestion or pregnancy.  I don't know yet because I'm 9dpo so I'm getting close to testing.  I think I may start testing tomorrow on 10dpo.  Hmmm hopefully the cause is the latter and I'll have some happy news coming soon.  Or maybe that's just wishfull thinking :)

     Thanks for all your responses!
