What sides to go with steak?

We are having my sister and BIL over for Rib eyes and I need to come up with some sides and a veg.

Re: What sides to go with steak?

  • Grilled portabello mushrooms go great with steak. Just brush them with Oil, salt and pepper and grill them indoors or out. I'm also a huge fan of asparagus with steak. Brussels sprouts are in season now. Super yummy doused with some Sriracha (spicy chili sauce) and a little honey and roasted!

You can never go wrong with a good old fashioned baked potato. Or a baked sweet potato.

I would add a green salad too.

    Now I'm craving steak!

  • sauteed green beans with olive oil and garlic, baked asparagus with crumbled bacon and mozz cheese (pre cook asparagus in a pan with olive oil for a few minutes then bake)

We also take frozen broccoli/cauliflower mix and melt mozz cheese over the top.  Or I steam it in a steamer and put minced garlic in the water to give it a garlicy flavor and then sprinkle parmesan cheese on it.  YUM!

We generally either have a baked potato or boiled red potatoes or mashed potatoes as a side when we have steak.

  • We typically start off with a big garden salad. And then some form of potato and a veggie in season (broccoli, squash, asparagus, green beans, etc)
  • DH makes an awesome side of mushrooms in a garlicky red wine sauce. Yum! And now I want steak too!
  • This Mexican Bean Salad...it is amazing!!!  I get requests for recipes every time I bring it to a party

  • PW crash hot potatoes are awesome.  I usually boil them ahead of time and get them ready on the cookie sheet, then all I have to do is pop them in the oven.  We also love to do a mix of onions, peppers, zuchinni & mushrooms on the bbq.
