xp: (also on our FB page) Registry questions

I think I'm pretty much done w my registry which is pretty exciting but there are 85 items on it - is that a ton or is that normal? Most of the things are little (10-30 dollars) but there are a few larger ticket items. I'm also just sort of looking at it as our "to do" list and whatever we don't get as a gift, we'll buy ourselves. Oh, and two more questions - I'm doing a "universal registry" on Amazon, anyone know how returns work with that? And, two, are you putting super little things on your registry like detergent and diaper cream? Thanks!

Re: xp: (also on our FB page) Registry questions

  • I'm not doing a registry as this is my third child. As a person who goes to baby showers, I like to see a BIG list! It gives people a lot of options. And sure, put stuff like detergent and diaper cream on there.

FYI- Our pediatrician warned us about using Dreft when our first little one started getting a rash. It's not very hypoallergenic. We only use ALL free or Purex free and Bounce free dryer sheets. Just a tip in case that's what you were planning on registering for. :) I'm sure it is fine for some babies, but it wasn't for ours.

  • I have to think 85 is pretty normal.  I have two registries, and a little over 100 items between them.  I registered for big ticket and really small stuff though.  Everything from the car seat to nipple pads.  We included detergent, sunscreen, diaper rash cream, shampoos.  The way I look at it, I get 10% off anything on the registry that I don't get as a gift.  Save money where you can!

I had to check mine - I have 111 items on it and I'm not 100% done (close to it). I put things as small as Dreft surface wipes and as big as the breast pump. I think there is a good variety on there for people to choose from and if not, they can buy whatever they want. I am using it as a "to do" kind of guide, anyway. People like options when they shop for you! I am not putting diapers on because I am afraid to commit to one brand/kind, but so far, I've bought some packs of Swaddlers when they were on sale. I figure if people buy me other kinds, then maybe I'll get some use out of them if the baby can't wear Swaddlers?

Wow, really? I didn't know that. I thought Dreft was supposedly ranked #1 by pediatricians! Thanks for the tip. We already use the Bounce free dryer sheets so maybe I'll do Purex free instead of Dreft. I did just buy a small box a few weeks ago, but it isn't opened... I can probably return it (it's from Walmart).

  • ... I got about 200 items on our two lists. Some of it is duplicates though, so I'd say we really have ... 180ish, but we have very large families so we wanted to make sure we had a lot of options!

ETA: We also have a bunch of the "smaller" items like creams, lotions and whatnot for those who'd like to create a basket
