Trying to Get Pregnant

When you are on the pill...

Does your body still prepare to ovulate (I know it doesn't actually ovulate). I ask because I'm taking my last month of pills now and I notice the stickier discharge that I've read is associated with ovulation.  Does anyone know if this is indeed the same thing I (should) experience after coming off the pill and ovulating for real?

Thanks!

Re: When you are on the pill...

  • My CM on & off the pill has been generally similar. I cannot remember when during a BC cycle I got what mucus but I always got the EWCM, watery & creamy CM.

Actually sticky CM/discharge is not associated w/ ovulation. It's usually the egg white consistency that is stretchy. Thinner and watery CM is also associated w/ ovulation.  A sticky, thicker consistency is generally not fertile.  I didn't pay much attention to my CM when I was on the pill, but I do remember having a lot more thick, white, sticky discharge. I don't ever remember seeing egg whites (although I wasn't looking for it).

  • I did have various stages of CM while I was on the pill, but you're not going to be able to predict what your cycle will look like just after stopping birth control. If your cycles seem strange after this last pack, just track it through Fertility Friend and know that it can take a while for your body to regulate.
