Trying to Get Pregnant

Holiday Babies follow-up

Hi ladies,

Happy almost Friday! Thank God. For those of you who followed my last post (& I know this topic probably does come up quite frequently around this time of year, but it's the first time for me!) I just wanted to thank all of you for all of your helpful insight, opinions, etc. After careful consideration, DH and I decided not to take a break. I have to agree with many of you that I do want a baby so badly, I cannot see giving up another opportunity. I would feel blessed regardless & will just have to do our best to make birthdays special even if it happens to be right around the holidays.

On a separate note, I don't know if any of you get emails from Beth Kiley (Personal Path to Pregnancy) but she does send out frequent emails with free advice, tips, articles, etc. The last one came with free downloadable meditation-type things to do to relax. DH & I have both been crazy stressed at work. Hope this helps to ease the stress a bit! I will try anything at this point!

GL to everyone this cycle. Again, don't know what I'd do without this board!

TTC since June 2011
DX: DH (30) severe MFI, severely low count & low motility
Me (32): all clear
Appt with Urologist 5/21/12: exam, ultrasound, bloodwork all normal.
Testicular Biopsy with TESE on 6/8/12. good sperm found! (left side only) froze sperm, failed thaw test :(
Orientation for IVF/ICSI on 6/13/12. Waiting for the green light following biopsy results...results show adequate sperm production both sides.
2nd SA 6/18/12: sample is "adequate for ICSI"
Plan: IVF/ICSI July 2012!
ER: 7/26/12. 15 eggs retrieved, all mature.
TESE/TESA/aspiration from epididymis, no motile sperm found :(
froze all eggs, the saga of praying for good sperm continues.
8/3/12: 2nd opinion from MFI uro on biopsy slides. Suspects "partial late maturation arrest."
Plan: more SAs, third biopsy/TESE with frozen back-up either from DH or DS.
SA 8/17/12: Zero sperm
SA 8/23/12: Zero sperm
9/26/12: SPERM FOUND! 15 eggs thawed, 12 survived and were ICSI'd, only 3 fertilized normally. Refrozen as embies and will thaw in Nov. Please survive and grow!

Re: Holiday Babies follow-up

  • Good luck this cycle!

FWIW, I did post something about it coming up all.the.time, but it's not an unexpected question for people just starting out to ask. The annoying part about it is that people will ask it over and over and over again, sometimes with multiple threads on the same page. You didn't do that, but I just wanted to clarify when I later went back to your thread and read what I said. I wasn't trying to be rude to you, just gearing up for the 40 more times the question will be asked over the next month and a half.

  • That's the same decision I would make. I would hate to put TTC on hold unless it was a health issue. GL!

  • We just had this decision too. I am going off my pill next month and if we conceive immediately, the due date is Xmas eve (based on my last period). Obviously, its not likely that I'll get pregnant that fast (although I'll try! lol) but I was hesitant when I figured that out. DH is a December baby and doesn't love it, but we agreed with the same idea as you.  I'd rather not prolong things if this could be a our chance now, and regret it. Birthdays will be what you make of themSmile
    Our Novel of TTC:

*Male Factor (low count and low motility), High Prolactin, and Polycystic Ovaries (March 2013)
*Recurrent Miscarriage testing also revealed high anti-phospholipids & single MTHFR mutation. (Feb 2014)

    *IVF (07/2013): BFP-Natural Miscarriage @ 5 weeks* <3 Madison Riley <3
    *FET #1 (10/2013): BFN
    *FET #2 (12/2013)- BFP-Missed Miscarriage at 8 weeks <3 Kyle Andrew <3
*Chromosomes and Karotyping tests were both normal. We lost a healthy baby boy :(
*FET #3 (04/2014) was cancelled after finding Chronic Endometritis
*Miraculous BFP July 2014!! (I was taking baby aspirin and Cabergoline to stay regulated while "taking a break from TTC" and waiting to consult with a reproductive immunologist!!!)

Our healthy baby girl was born 03/10/15 thanks to daily Lovenox injections and baby aspirin. There are no words for how grateful I am for our rainbow baby. <3
  • Awesome! GL to you and your DH.

I think having a holiday baby would be fun, however, I just want my take home baby so I can care less what month he/she is born.
