Thoughts on Nathaniel

DH and I are waiting to talk names until we find out the sex of the baby in 3 weeks but I have some names floating around in my head.  I love the name Nathaniel and we would most likely end up calling him Nate but have one issue with it. My DD is Kathryn, everyone calls her Katie (her "offiical" nn) but DH and I also call her Kate. I love how Kathryn and Nathaniel go together but is it too ridiculous having a Nate and a Kate!! I would never sign cards like that or shout out Nate and Kate but it still bugs me a little.  Thoughts?

I love it! It was on my short list - but H hates classic names. But I agree Nate and Kate is too much. You can always insist people use the full name or even Nathan.

My brother is Nathaniel. No one has ever called him Nate or Nathan. Also I'm Kadie. I think Nate and Kate is a little too matchy matchy but you may meet him and decide he is just a Nathaniel and not a Nate.

DH is Nathan.  His mom chose that over Nathaniel becuase she thought it was less likely to be shortened.  That might be a good option for you. He goes by Nathan exclusively. I think Nathan and Katie sounds fine!  GL

I love Nathaniel, but I do think Nate and Kate might be a bit much.

I love it!! Nathaniel is my very favorite name! My husband doesn't like it. I think Nate and Kate is cute! Nathaniel can go by Nat, Nathan, Nathaniel or Nate. You don't have to choose Nate.
