How long until your first OB appt after graduating from RE?

I go in for my 8 week u/s at my RE's office on 02/10. If everything looks good, he said he will release me to my OB.  I'm wondering...should I go ahead and make an appointment with my OB's office before this appt?  I'm thinking it could potentially take me a couple of weeks to get into see my OB.

How long after you "graduate" did you wait until your first appt with your OB?

I would call your OB and see when they want to see you.  My RE released me at 12 weeks and I saw my OB at 12 weeks 2days (which is fairly late).  A lot will see you once even if you're still with your RE.

My RE released me at 9 weeks, I had my first OB appointment by 12 weeks.

I graduated at 10 weeks and saw my OB at 12 weeks.

I am not to this point yet since I haven't even had my first u/s, but I know my RE says to call the OB after the first u/s and schedule with them for a date after the 2nd u/s.  I guess to make sure you can get in pretty quickly.  Especially if you want to have the NT scan - that can only be done in a certain time frame.  So I would call now.

My RE released me after the 8 wk u/s and said to see my OB at the 10wk mark. I saw my OB at 10wks and since I was/am a fertility patient, she also saw me at 12 wks.

I would definitely call now. I also graduated at 8 weeks and called the OB earlier that week, and the earliest they could get me in was this coming Monday, so a full month later. They are a popular practice in a metro area though, so that's a factor.

My RE told me at my 7 week appointment to make an appointment for week 10 with my OB, even though I still had 1 more appointment at 8 weeks with my RE.

My 2nd and last u/s with the RE was at 8w6d.  My first OB appt was at 10w3d.  Since my OB's office tends to be busy though, my RE told me to schedule my appt after our first u/s with them.  If I had waited until I actually graduated to call the OB, I think I would have been seen later than 10w3d.

I think you should call right away, just in case there is a long wait.

 I had a month wait to get in to see my MFM, but I saw my OB the week after I graduated (8 weeks).  I also have a long standing history with my OB, he and his staff know me and my family very well.

Thanks for the advice, ladies!  I am probably going to go ahead and call.  I doubt it will take me weeks to get in, but it may take me a week or two...especially if I want a first thing in the am appointment or first appointment after lunch (ones with the shortest wait time) so I figure better safe than sorry.  I will ask her office when they want to see me.

If you are getting a new ob, call soon! I couldn't get the first two I wanted because they weren't taking anymore pg. patients due in August. When I got into the other one, they wanted me in right away. I was 10 weeks when I called, they wanted me in by 11 weeks, so I am going next Tuesday.

I graduated at 8 weeks and am seeing my OB at 10.  then NT scan at 12.

Oh and check with your RE's office to make sure they fax over your records and blood test results so you can skip this step at the OB's first visit.

I graduated on a Thursday and called my OB that day.  I was in for my 1st appt. that Monday.

I graduated at 8 weeks and had our first OB appointment the next week which was strictly paperwork. We do not actually see an OB for over another week.

I'd call asap to get on their calendar. I graduated at 10w3d and saw my OB exactly a week later.

My RE usually does u/s's at 6&8 weeks, but I pushed the 2nd u/s back to 9.5 weeks because I wanted to feel more confident about graduation. I then saw my OB at 12.5 weeks for my 1st visit. But, I also knew I wouldn't be doing the NT test, so I didn't need to get in before then.

mine was a week and half. my OB wanted to see me between 10 and 12 weeks.

So I called to try to get the appointment and it was just a huge headache. The girl who answered the phone was CLUELESS.  First, she tried to schedule me before I am even set to graduate...literally in the next sentence after I told her WHEN I was graduating. Second, she didn't seem to have a clue what a reproductive endocronologist was and I had to explain to her that I had already been receiving prenatal care through them.  I finally just asked to leave a message for the doctor inquiring as to when she wanted me to come in, but I have a funny feeling my message won't be communicated correctly. 

Sigh.  I haven't even made my first appointment with my OB and I am already frusterated.

I actually saw my first OB the day I "graduated" from my RE. At that point I had had two U/S with my RE, but I was still really early. I didn't tell the receptionist anything about going to an RE or anything for the reasons you just mentioned. When I got back to the doctor, we explained everything. GL and I hope that your message gets through.
