I just ordered ours today im excited to have a tandem again we have a side by side right now and i HATE it. its so hard to get thru doors and and thru sores is horrible. i did lots of resarch before deciding on this because it was in our price range and we are gonna get a glider to hook on the back for our 2 year old to use when the baby comes (he will be almost three then) just want to know what you guys thought if you have it?
this is the one we ordered
Re: Any one have the Contours Options Tandem II Stroller?
If weight is important to you, you might want to consider a different stroller. I know a few people who have this stroller and one of them really likes it but the other sold hers before she ever even used it. It's very heavy (44lbs compared to the City Mini which is half that weight) and for me, I didn't want to wrestle getting a heavy stroller in and out of my car all of the time with two kids & all of their stuff.
We had it. It is a great value for the money (it comes with all the accessories most strollers charge you for).
Pros:
The seat rotation was awesome. My kids LOVE to sit facing each other and I could play with all the combinations depending on my trip.
The basket is HUGE....really really huge! It was no big deal if DS fell asleep in the car on the way to the market. I would just put the car seat attachment and DD in the front (give her some snacks) and do my entire grocery shopping.
It has these little pockets on canopy and it was really convenient to put a spare paci or travel size antibacterial gel.
One handed seat recline is really nice and in every combination both seats can recline completely.
I got this snack cup attachment at target and both the sippy cup and snacks fit perfectly https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Travel-Snack-Bonus/dp/B004VSFA3E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328244497&sr=8-1
Cons:
It is a TANK! I could never imagine using this to travel on an airplane. We did take it on a car-trip vacation and it worked great but I would never take this on an airplane. I could fit down the aisles but if you need to make quick or sharp turns this stroller can't do it. I did many "3-point turns" in a store.
I am small (115 pds and about 5'1") and it is heavy but I could lift it into my SUV with no problem. You need to take at least one seat off to fold it up. I always took both seats off because just about every time I used it I was rearranging the seats. It did take up a significant amount of trunk space.
I never used the iPod adaptor but thought it was lame IMO.
I am picky about canopies. It just seems like the sun is always in their eyes (on most strollers) even when the canopy is out.
This was a great stroller when DD was younger (16 months) but now that she is over 2 and starting to resist getting into the stroller I needed the option to have a single stroller. I didn't want to take out this tank and only use one seat. I rely on the stroller 99% of the time since DH works so much and I am often out alone. We upgraded to a city select so we had the option to have a single stroller (and it is small), or double, or a single with the glider board. We had to save and convince DH this was worth the money since it is so expensive.
We have it, and it has been really great for us! We primarily use it for shopping and walks in the neighborhood. As PP said, it is pretty large and heavy, but I can lift it into our minivan fairly easily.
If we were buying a double stroller today, I'd buy the Contours Optima (basically the exact same stroller, but it weighs ~10 pounds less). The Tandem II is a great stroller for the price, though!
What glider attachment are you looking at? That sounds like something I might need in the near future!
...not a true newbie...been a Nestie since '05, but had to change my SN to change my sig...
I love it i dont care about the weight its not bad cuz i take both seats out cuz i switch them around alot and it is easier to fit in my van trunk and you can get the glider at buybuybaby or amazon they are cheaper there
its not bad to me with the seats off its not that heavy compared to what im used to its about the same. btw i love your sons names we have a Liam too
