~~ZERO SPERM / AZOOSPERMIA CHECK IN~~

This is a place for any of you who are experiencing the world of azoospermia.  Whether you were recently diagnosed and are trying to make sense of it all, or you have started preparing for IVF or IUI, or have decided instead to move on to adoption.  Please join in the group by posting! Check in is on Wednesdays.

Learning that the chances of having a biological child with your husband are slim to none is not easy, and is, frankly, devastating news.  This check in is a place where we can share how we are coping (or not) with our new realities, provide information we've learned through investigating our options, adjusting our lifelong dreams and plans, and dealing with the situation.  

I'd like to also extend an invitation to those with Azoo dx who have been fortunate enough to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and/or adoption.  Ultimately, all of us desire to create a family.  The experiences and insight of those who have reached that goal will be quite helpful to those of us on that road.

Update: Baseline went well and I started estrogen patches on Monday. These things are itchy little buggers!

QOTW: We boycot valentines day! I kind of feel like it is a hallmark holiday, and I don't ever want to force DH to show his love for me. So this year for valentines day DH is getting a minor surgery done and I am getting acupuncture an hour away. Fun!

What is your valentines day tradition?
We usually exchange cards and go to dinner. Since VD is on a tuesday this year we will most likely go to dinner the weekend before or after.

Update:  Finished BCP earlier this week; one week into Lupron.  AF started last night and I go in for baseline u/s and b/w on Monday.  If all clear I'll be starting my delestrogen injections on Monday. 

QOTW: DH and I closed on our house last 2/17 so we joked that we'd just buy each other a house for V-day.  Not sure we could top that ;-)

Update: We actually just decided to do a FET of our lone embryo sometime in the next few months. The only problem is that the embryo is several states away... so we are trying to ship it to where we are. I'm trying to stay hopeful, but given our history it's hard to not feel pessimistic about the whole thing.

Also- DH just had a SA done which revealed 14 nonmotile sperm. His Uro isn't even thinking we should do a fresh IVF with the way things are right now. DH started clomid and is starting acu/chinese herbs and a ton of vitamins. We are hoping things will look better in a few months, but who knows....

 QOTW: I usually cook DH a special dinner and we have a romantic evening at home!

Hi Ladies!  Update:  We had DH's second post-op SA last month and it was still zero   It's so frustrating...we have normal sperm, but they're blocked. Our uro wants us to come back in July for one last SA...if still nothing then he said we need to start pursuing other options.  We have four vials frozen, but can't afford IVF right now.  We want nothing more than to have a baby and I hate that money stands in our way

 QOTW:  We don't really do anything.  It's funny cause usually our valentine's day tradition is to fight...we've been together for 9 years and I think we've had an argument every year - LOL!  Its become our joke

Gidge I have been totally MIA for a while and didn't know you got a BFP!  I am so happy for you!    I'm so sorry that one of the babies didn't make it, but will keep your other LO in my thoughts.  Congrats!!!!

Update:  I begin my turn on the testing carousel with my HSG tomorrow and bloodwork next week.  Then we've got our counseling appt late this month where we will discuss the next steps with D-IUI.  My husband also has an appointment with his Uro to go over all his records, etc and kind of put his mind at ease about our next steps.  We're also planning an early April trip just to kind of get away for a while, and will hopefully start the IUI process mid April!

 QOTW:  We don't have any traditions and this year I'm actually out of town over Valentine's day (boo!)  I'm sure we'll head to dinner the weekend afterwards.
