Does your LO's preschool class have a parent/student contact list

of some sort?  Or do you gather that info on your own? If you gather on your own how did you do it and is that weird to ask?

DD's birthday is in July and i'm sure she'll want to invite some of her school friends to the party...  Can't really distribute invites at school since their class ends in May I believe. ;)

I'm curious to know how that is handled at other schools.  More than likely, she will be in the 4 year old class in the fall with the same kids.

  • We have a school directory.  I would just ask the teacher if she has one that you could have.

  • At the beginning of the year, the teacher passed out contact info forms that parents could fill out if they wanted to. Then I typed up a roster with full contact information which was emailed to the families. It wasn't required, but all but one or two families provided their info.

  • Daycare based preschool program does not have a list.  The few families that we have seen outside of school, I got to know when we ran into at pick-up/drop-off or other events held at school and we just exchanged info.  The program is year round (does a "camp" over the summer) so for invites, I have always just left them in the parent folders.  My older DD's PreK class we did receive a list of numbers and emails for the kids in her kids and all parents had to sign off at the beginning of the year stating that they were OK with this - the teachers put it together.

  • Yes DD's preschool has a parent/student contact list.  When I registered her we had to fill out a form saying whether or not we wanted our phone number and street address given out to other parents.

  • We were given a sheet with the children's face and the parents phone and email the first day of school.

  • DD's school puts out a parent directory at the beginning of each school year.

  • We were given a contact list with phone numbers, addresses, emails for all of the kids in their class the first month of school. I believe we did have to sign a consent to have the info given out though(but everyone did). I would try putting a note in the kids' cubbies that you want to invite requesting contact info.
  • I wish DD's school had that kind of list.  I know a few of the parents well enough to contact them through e-mail and/or FB, but we just do invitations in the mailboxes at school.  It is also a daycare, so it is year round.

No, ours does not have a directory of any sort. They're not allowed to give out personal information when asked either. We have these cubbies for messages/newsletters that I stick DS's invites in. I would just stick in a note requesting contact information in advance of the school year ending for those friends who you need it for.

This is a great idea, thanks!

  • Our preschool isn't allowed to share parent contact info in any way. One of the parents mentioned that at our parent orientation night and offered to collect it and pass it out (it's fine for the parents to do it, the school just won't). Everyone filled out their info then and she typed up and distributed via email and in the kid's mailboxes. I'm not sure how we would have collected the info otherwise. I guess you could fill out a contact form and put in each mailbox offering to compile a directory and ask them to put it back in your child's mailbox once completed.

  • yes, we have a contact list for DD's classmates and their parents as well as the older class as both classes are on the playground at the same time.
  • We don't have one as far as I know. But my boys just started a few weeks ago so it may have been something they passed out when school started in September.
