C-sections

dialated before schedualed cs?

Has anyone been dialated before your schedualed cs? How much were you dialated? What did the doctors tell you?

I feel like I've dropped and it got me thinking about dialating and what if my water breaks and what if i start contracting-you know how our minds start freaking out this close to d-day! ;)

Re: dialated before schedualed cs?

  • I went into labor the day before my scheduled C-section and I was dilated 6cm.  They were not concerned about it they only change was that my LO was coming about 7 hours earlier than expected.

  • You can be slightly dilated for weeks before you go into active labor. It's not a big deal. I was 1cm dilated at my 38w appointment, went into labor and had my water break 2 days later (6 days before my scheduled CS), was 4 cm dilated, and had a healthy baby girl by CS.
  • C/S scheduled for a Thursday morning.

I went into early labor Tuesday, more progressive labor Wednesday, water broke Wednesday night and we had her 12 hours before my scheduled c/s.

I had an appointment with my ob on Wednesday morning and he was aware I was in labor but no one ever checked me.  He just told me unless the contractions become timeable, I start bleeding, or my water breaks not to worry about it.  I found out when I got to the hospital I was 6 cm and almost completely effaced...

  • I just wrote about this on another post. I had a scheduled c/s but went into premature labor about 2 weeks before. My OB sent me to the hospital to check out what I considered a paper cut amount of spotting. I had no idea that my water had already broke. When I got to the hospital I was 7 cm dialated. They started planning for an emergency c/s. And a quick hour later, after filling out paper work and getting everything hooked up, I was already 10 cm. I was one of the "lucky" ones that didn't know I was in labor (and I guess lucky that I went to the hospital). I even remember feeling this intense burning pressure and telling the nurses I really had to go to the bathroom or just push. And they were like "No!" hahaha. I was in the OR in no time. Bottom line is everything will work out. I'm going through similar fears this time around just because that's what we women do. But I know everything will be fine. Hang in there!

Haha I thought I was the only one.  I did not know I was in labor I just thought I had to go to the bathroom and the only reason I knew something was up was because I started spotting.  And when I got to the hospital and they told me I was 6cm dilated I almost died.  If I did not bleed I was going to wait and go to the hospital when it was actually time for me to that morning.  My doctor said good thing I got here or I would have been having this baby at home and she was breech.

  • With my first, who was breech, I went in for my 36 week appointment and found out I was 4cm.  They sent me to the hospital to see if I was in active labor and I was having contractions but not active labor.  They checked again at 37 weeks and I was 5 cm but still nothing exciting so at 38 weeks they tried to turn him and when it wasn't successful I had a c-section.  I was 6cm by that time and 100% effaced.

My second was similar except I had a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks.  I was about 6 cm and 100% effaced for him as well.

I go in Thursday for my 36 week appointment so I am interested to see if I am dilated like I was with the others.
