I've been stalking this board for a little while and am finally telling people I'm pregnant....so hello!!  I grew up in Minnesota but moved away for 12 year and moved back in August.  It has proved to be the best move as I have met the man of my dreams and have become pregnant!

 I live in NE Minneapolis and am nervous/excited about being a first time Mom.  I have a good ob/gyn (anyone have Dr. Mainguy?!?) and will be delivering at Abbott NW.  What do you know about that hospital?

 Anyway...just wanted to say hi and start posting!

I've heard good things about the care at Abbott and it's nice that it is connected to Children's Hospital, if for some reason the baby would need immediate services there.  They are building a mother/child area there, but not sure what the progress is on that - whether or not it would be ready by the time you deliver.  One thing to be aware of though is that it is not in the best neighborhood.  That said, as long as you park in the ramp and be smart/aware of your surroundings, I think you'll be just fine.  I've never heard of the hospital itself being unsafe.

My sister-in-law had to have an emergency c-section two months early - she had preeclampsia - and they transferred her to Abbott when it looked like that may happen. They have only great things to say about Abbott and Children's.

I'm also delivering at Abbott! I have heard great things! What sold it for us was that if anything goes wrong at another hospital, they transfer you to Abbott.

My husband and I went and toured Abbott a while ago, and we will be going there to give birth. Overall it wasn't bad - when we went it was quiet and as far as hospitals go, it seemed pretty nice (not that I've been to many). I also liked the fact that it's connected to the Children's hospital so that if anything did go wrong, then baby would have immediate specialized care.
