I like them well enough for baby clothes, not for myself, the local one in our craptastic mall has a really small baby section tho. I actually drive to the next town about 20 miles away bc it's such a nicer store, so bc of that I don't reguarly shop there unless I have a good coupon or there's a good sale going on.

Funny thing... our only mall (an hour away, but the closest) is pretty big, but JC Penney is right smack dab in the middle of the mall, so you have to walk through the whole store to get to the other half of the mall, so I go in there pretty frequently but never to shop, just to get to the other side.

hmmm, I guess my wording was too literal. That does sound like an odd set up.
Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
We don't have one close by. I would shop there happily, probably mostly for kid stuff and basics for me, if there was one convenient for me. (I didn't click -- I need an option for "I would if I could"!)
I shop there fairly frequently. I buy some clothes for DD there although we try to get things used most of the time. I do buy my maternity clothes there since it's the only place with a decent selection around. I used to buy a lot of my clothes there but it seems like after a few washes the clothes shrink and no longer fit even though I was on cold and hang dry. It's so frustrating!!
When I lived in (very rural) Vermont that was our only clothing store besides Wal-mart. We learned to shop there and I actually like their clothes and picked up some cute things there. Great deals too. We don't live there anymore so it's not my first choice but I'll stroll in there every now and then.
The one by me is practically brand new and really big and clean. I shop there a lot. I went there today actually and bought the green pencil skirt that was in the new ad.
I picked "only as a last resort". However, the new catolog I received in the mail has me a little curious to see if the ones around here have changed any.

I like the new pricing thing.
Ours is new and I find a lot of cute things there for myself (for the kids as well). I know which brands don't flatter me, but I there are a couple that I usually pick from. We are on somewhat of a tight budget and I can usually find something I like when I need a new outfit.
I had a winter wedding to attend 2 years ago and couldn't find a dress anywhere. I had found one I loved at Lord & Taylor, but it was like $400 and I couldn't justify it. I ended up going to JCP as a last resort and found the perfect black print wrap dress that I wore to the wedding and have worn about 50x since. It was $30!!!
There isn't a JCP at the mall I typically go to now (we moved), so I rarely go.

Yeah, this is the link to the map of our local mall... odd.
We no longer live where there are any department stores, so I never shop there. But before we moved, I would get my husband's polos and all there. He loves the St. John's Bay brand. I'm more of a Macy's girl. I can shop their sales like no other.
