Unless I'm understanding this wrong, it seems like we're not really supposed to have blankets in the crib/PnP for the whole suffocation hazard problem.
So what is the protocol for keeping LO warm at night?
We're also going to keep the house between 68 and 72 degrees once the baby comes. That helps too. Plus the swaddling.
Yeah we unfortunately bought ourselves a fixer house with oil heat! So keeping the house betweem 68-72 degrees gets reeeaally pricey for us! So annoying! LO will definitely have a space heater in the nursery when winter rolls around again.
There are a few options, but they all involve layering. You'll dress LO in clothes, onesie, pajamas, what have you and then swaddle them. Next you can either swaddle them a second time or put them in a sleeper.

We loved the SwaddleMe and hated the Kiddopotomus swaddler. I understand about the oil heat. My brother has oil and they use these radiator things that plug into the wall. They keep their house pretty warm with these:
I would be weary of leaving a space heater in the nursery unattended. It might just be because I live in Florida, but around here they get a bad wrap for being extremely unsafe and a fire hazard.
FWIW at the classes we have been taking, the nurses all said that it is not necessary to keep the baby that much warmer than you would have it for yourself. They recommended keeping the house somewhere around 67-68 degrees. This was not what I had heard in the past, but that's the new thinking, apparently.

Layering is good- onesie, sleeper, swaddled, but you really need to keep the house temp up.
