For about the last week, DD has been waking up SCREAMING instead of waking up and laying there happily talking to herself. It mostly happens after nap time (which has decreased in time, down to only 45 minutes) and sometimes when she wakes up for the day. She goes down fine with no problem, it's just the waking up screaming part that gets me. She doesn't appear to be teething and is acting normal otherwise. I just wish she'd go back to the 1.5-2 hr naps with a happy wake-up!
Is this some kind of phase they go through? Anyone else going through this?
Re: Waking up screaming (from naps, mostly)??
Why yes, this is happening to us today. Lovely, isn't it?
I have no idea what the problem is. 15 month developmental spurt maybe?

OMG that's too funny. Gingers are handfuls aren't they?! And I've got another one (most likely) on the way! Help me!
I was just on the Wonder Weeks website trying to find something about there maybe being a leap around this time, but am not finding much...it's gotta be a phase, I just hope it goes way as soon as it came!

We went through a short phase like this. And it still happens occasionally. I thought maybe he was waking up from a bad dream? I have no idea what bad dreams a toddler can have...but who knows? Often if I went in and comforted him for awhile he would go back to sleep. Other times that was it and he was wide awake...and crabby because he woke up upset.
It did get better...and doesn't happen so often anymore.
LOL, I do not have a redhead but I use to have a waker upper screamer.... For a while too. Not sure what was up with it so I can be of no help. I assumed it was night terrors (because he had some HORRIBLE episodes at night) that or it was his molars cutting and he was just crying. But once we put him in bed with us, he fell right back to sleep.
This went on for quite a while. Last weekend we moved to toddler bed and bam, wakes up happy again. Not sure if he just woke up and felt trapped or just total co'winka dink.
Oh, it most definitely means something!
