What does your LO call grandma? Or what do you plan to have them call her? Did you let grandma pick out her name or did you decide?
DH's mom passed away a few years ago, so I want LO to still think of her as grandma and would prefer a different grandma-related name for DH's step-mom. DH and I don't really want to use the term "grandma" for her, but can't think of anything else.
Re: Names for grandma
DS calls my side "yiayia" (grandma in Greek). It's probably confusing because there is my mom, my stepmom (who I usually try to differentiate as "yiayia Firstname" but rarely do, and DS calls her yiayia) and both my own grandmothers.
He calls my MIL "nana." It's definitely not my choice and DH and I would both prefer grandma but whatever, she was insistent.
My mom is Nana, my MIL is Grandma. FIL's new wife calls herself Grandma, but we tell LO to call her a shortened version of her first name.
I plan for them to be called "Grandma First Name"
We refer to MIL as Grammy, but when DS says Grammy it comes out Gigi.
DH's grandparents are Granny and Grandma.
My grandmother is Gram.
My mother is deceased.
My mom is Nonnee, my grandmother (my ds great grandmother) is Mimi, and my MIL is grandma.
My mom is Gigi. MIL is Grandma.
My mom really did NOT want to be Grandma or Nana, so she threw around some names and liked Gigi. DD picked it up really quickly and it has definitely stuck.

My step-mom: Nana
My MIL: grandma
My mom: Lola. She refused normal names and picked this one. I think it's Polynesian for grandma.
well, now she calls them grandma and grandpa, but for a long time she called them both 'pie'. haha!
actually sometimes she still calls DH's stepdad Pie. i don't know if he will ever shake that one.
i hadn't really given this particular issue that much thought, but maybe i should, since my parents are both deceased as well. i have just been referring to them as grandma joanne and grandpa jack when i show her pictures.
MIL = Nonna
FIL = Poppa
My Mom = Grandma (grandma pat for other grandkids because they call both grandma's grandma)
My Dad = Jiddu (grandpa in Lebanese Arabic)
We wanted to call my mom Taita (grandma in Lebanese Arabic) but she refused due to the fact she literally hates her MIL/my grandma. Guess that's what happens when your MIL to moves in with you and stays for 18 years. I loved having my Taita around... My mom, not so much.
My mom is "Nonnie" (my nephew started calling her that 20 yrs ago)
DH mom is Mimi (LO is the frist grandkid, MIL picked this name)
DH's grandma is gammy/gam
I called my grandma's Grandma A (her first initial) and Grandma O (her last initial)
I called both of my grandmother's by their first names. Did anyone else do this?
My mom goes by her first name. My father is no longer living but we refer to him as "Grandfather Tom." MIL is Nana and FIL is Grandpa (which I hate)
My mom is Grandmama - right now LO calls her G momma or Me momma and her long-time BF - Hobo (this was his fathers nickname and we really like it)
DH's mom - Grandmother and step father Pappy
DH's father - Homey (DH's nickname for his dad)
Extended family - Pawpaw and Grandma, Nana, and Bebe
My mom is "mom mom". That is what I called both of my grandmoms growing up.
MIL is Gigi. She picked it. I let all of them pick what they would be called.
Stepmother in law goes by Oma. She picked it.
my blog :: the domestic wannabe
I call my grandmothers "Grandmom" and "Granny".
DD will call my mother "Grammy" and DH's mother "Meme" (pronounced meh may)
This exactly. DS started calling my mom Nana and MIL MiMi. My mom wanted to be Mimom and my MIL wanted to be Bacha (polish for grandma) but DS had other thoughts.
My mom is Oma and my dad is Boompa. I have three older nieces and that's what they call them.
My MIL wants to be called "Grammy" but Micah doesn't really say anything yet. FIL and SMIL are Papa and Nana. They have two other grandchildren and that's what they call them. However, they never really refer to themselves like that in front of Micah.
My BIL and his wife had a baby when Micah was 8 months old. They refuse to call my ILs anything besides Grandma and Grandpa (firstname) so we'll see what happens once the kids start talking.
