Announcing #2s gender...any ideas?

I know this post doesn't necessarily belong on this board..however I was wondering how the moms of 2 or more announced what they were having to the rest of their families.  When we found out we were having a girl for #1, i called a local bakery and had them bake a cake and put a layer of pink frosting in between and frost it in white with yellow writing saying "it's a..." and i let my mom and DH's mom cut into it.  Looking for some different ideas.  All are welcome.  TYIA

  • We put blue balloons in a box & had both sets of g-parents open the box at midnight on NYE (we have an annual party).  It was fun & DS loved playing with the balloons afterwards.  He also "helped" open the box because he knew the balloons were in there, lol!).

I also thought of doing another cake (that's how we told family we were preg) or having DS give each set of g-parents a little gift with something blue inside & baby-related.

  • I had to mail my reveal so I did it a little differently but:

Boy:  Give a box with Peanut M&Ms, Snickers, Baby Ruth, Pay Day, Almond Joy, and Mr. Goodbar.  Then write a note that says, "What do these have in common?"  For anyone who doesn't get it - they all have nuts!

Girl:  Give a box with Lady Finger Cookies with a note that says "A Dainty treat for our family"

I mailed both boxes to my families and told them not to open them until I called.  I numbered the boxes and told them which number to open when I called.  They opened the girl box and understood instantly that we were having another girl.  Then they opened the boy box and got to enjoy the treats.  :)

If you're going to be there with them then you don't need to make both boxes, just the box for the specific sex you're having.

    It was fun!

  • One girl at work bought blue liquorice and handed them out.

Please god, whatever you do, do NOT have a gender reveal party.

  • I did something similar for my first. For my second I had DD unwrap a pair of booties in front of everyone. In my case they had pink tiaras stitched on them.
My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013! image
