Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Flame worthy or no flames?

So, DD goes to DC with another little boy and just the other day the father posted pictures of him eating an XL french fry from McDonalds. It looks like that was his entire meal so I felt a little like Judgy McJudgerson. Flame worthy or no? What say you?

Re: Flame worthy or no flames?

  • What if he just put the box in front of the kid?

  • From one picture you decided that was his whole meal? What makes you think it was a meal and not a snack? How do you know it wasnt that childs first french fry ever?

The flame worthy behaviour is yours.

  • Not flame worthy. My kid has had french fries before. Also how do you know that was his whole meal? Plus who cares? Maybe he was sick that day and that was the only thing he would eat.

  • Are you serious?

  • If the father ordered an XL fry specifically for his son, yes, flameworthy. If the father ordered it for himself and gave his kid a few, not a big deal. And I refuse to give my kid fast food at this point, but don't judge others who do on occassion.
  • I wouldn't flame.

My underweight, picky toddler has had a meal of Chik-fil-A fries before (kids meal sized).  I was just happy that she ate something.

This. The picture does not tell the whole story. I held an ice cream cone in front of DS when he was about 3 months old. You can bet he wasn't eating it.

  • No flames.  You cannot make that much of an assumption based on a picture.  My daughter has had a fry of ours.  Maybe the box was in the picture and they were the dad's fries.  Quit judging with no real information about the matter.

  • no flames.
  • No.  We have taken a picture with DS1 holding an unopen beer.  I can assure you he wasn't drinking it.

  • I think you're making a lot of assumptions. Oh, and it's none of your business.

This!  I am a health freak and feed my kid super healthy and "clean" foods, but I am not going to rob him from having McDonalds french fries in moderation.  I got to eat some of that stuff on occasion and I eat healthy, exercise and I'm at a healthy weight now in my life.  Everything in moderation is ok with me.

  • You can only flame if it is chicken nuggets...or maybe this:

  • Not flameworthy unless that is what he eats every single day and there is no way for you to know that from a single picture.

  • I'd be burned alive from your flames if you saw the things I've let my DS eat, then.

  • No flames, you can't judge his entire diet from a single picture. My mom mentioned to me wanting to take DS with her to McDonalds and I freaked at the thought but then after thinking about it more I realized I was being a little crazy. If she wants to take him and give him a few bites of fries it isn't going to magically undo the fact that I generally feed him a healthy, well balanced diet.

  • Eh... DD2 loves french fries. She gets offered other food when we go out, but sometimes that's the only thing she'll eat. I think her entire meal last time we went to Culvers was french fries and ice cream. (Oh, and applesauce.) It happens. One meal isn't that big of a deal.

  • Every year my children consume an entire birthday cake. And on Thanksgiving my mom ate an enitre turkey and loaf of bread. I mean, I DO have pictures of them with those items in front of them on the table.

And who cares if he actually did eat a bucket of fries? It's not poison.

Lol, here is mine. At 3 weeks, I can guarantee my little fuzzy chicken head was not drinking it. We actually still have this one, unopened.

  • I would get flamed straight to hell if you saw what my kids eat on occassion. We have very busy lives so it's not out of the ordinary for us to have chik fil a once a week.

Oh and btw, atleast the kid has food in his belly, it may be a french fry, but thats more than what some kids have.

  • From just a picture?  Not flameworthy at all.  And this is coming from a mom who is hard core picky about her kids are allowed to eat.  Just from a picture, you can't tell if this is their daily eating habit or if it was a one time treat.  Plus, maybe it was Dad's fries and the boy was just eating one and the dad thought it was cute and took a picture.  My guess is that if the dad went through the effort to post a picture of his son eating fries, than it's probably a special thing or maybe the first time he's ever eaten fries.  It's probably not an everyday thing if he thought it was FB worthy.  I eat fast food maybe a few times a year tops, and if my DS got to eat a fry, I would think it was pretty cute.  Plus, my older son especially is skinny, so him eating a fry is not a big deal at all.

That beer is almost as big as he is!  And that has to be one of the most adorable newborns I've ever seen in my life!  I love newborns with hair!

Thank you. It was great having something of me with him since the rest of him, especially now, is all daddy. And I love the chicken fuzz hair, I so miss that.
