We asked a friend of ours to be a known donor at dinner three weeks ago or so. Right before we left for Costa Rica, he let us know that he and his wife had read the stuff we gave them (the known donor chapter of the Brill book) and were comfortable moving forward. As in, they have said yes! (for now, provided we don't run into any problems)
The next step is for him to go get some testing done (he has the list from the book), and for us all to sit down and iron out some logistics (who we're comfortable telling, how we're going to deal with the distance, etc.).
So unless something changes, we have a donor. My first feeling was "oh my god, this is really happening". It has felt pretty abstract until now.

How exciting We used a known donor and couldn't be happier with the decision (for us).
Good Luck!!

Thanks everyone. I'm sure it was the apple cake that sealed the deal.
C just started charting and she just started a new job, so I think we won't start TTC for at least another three months. But our donor is only going to be driving distance until July, so we hope to get in some cycles by then. After that we'll have to figure out either shipping or travel for insems.
