This is a two part question. First, what does anyone know about this or have you tried it? I read that it may act like clomid and help with earlier ovulation. There are obviously some mixed reviews but im curious to see if anyone has has any experience with it.
Second, (and feel welcome to cyber slap me with a reality check if I need it) the reason I looked it up in the first place: I'm bummed because AF just started and we're probably out for this cycle already. FF predicts my FW for this month for feb. 9-15. Well DH is out of town feb 8-15. This comes after a crazy LP last cycle that was almost 14 days instead of my usual 10.
So I was thinking i could try the soy, maybe ovulate earlier (I normally o cd 17-20) and have a chance this cycle. I have read that soy also could do thw opposite and gave some people wacky cycles where they o'd later. I figure either way would give us more of a shot than we have now. So what do you think ladies? Give it a try and if it doesn't work no big deal since we are probably out this month anyway or stop trying to mess with my body since it's just one month?
Re: Soy isoflavones
No No No No! I wouldn't recommend taking any herbals to induce ovulation. Soy can have some nasty side effects and is it really worth the risk of potentially messing up your cycles? Taking vitamins/herbals without your dr's consent or monitoring is not recommended and I think it is stupid! Impatience/frustration because you may be out one month is not a reason to start messing with your hormones. You may ovulated earlier on your own (it happened to me) or later naturally. Also if your LP is normally 10 and it went to 14 it could be you had a wonky cycle or you could have ovulated later (not detected it) and had your normal LP. Do yourself a favor and quit googling ways to ovulated earlier/later and focus on something positive this month. Many ladies on this board have had bad timing one month and you don't see them running off to get vitamins/herbs.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but it your reasoning just blows my mind.
I forgot about this when I responded to OP...but I totally agree with you!
I'm a little leary of self medicating with vitamins or supplements without consulting a doctor first. Sometimes even "natural" products have potential side effects or interactions.
That being said, I do know someone who took soy and it did help her ovulate earlier. I'm not sure if she was still taking soy when she got pregnant.

Yup, I've taken it (three times). Here's my response to someone else who asked a similar question not too long ago: https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/62460282.aspx
OP, I took it for the same reason as you were saying: I was O'ing CD 17-24, and wanted to O earlier.
GM, I think it's hilarious that after all this time, you still can't spell my name right.
haha! As soon as I saw this post I knew there was going to be a great response by you and some gibberish garbage by juliane

I tried it once- and it didnt work. I already was having wacky cycles, so it didnt phase me. The way it works is that the soy contains "antiestrogens" that trick your body into thinking it doesnt have enough. It produces more of those hormones needed to ovulate- which DOES NOT mean you will. It might make you fake out over and over.
Additionally, taking estrogen, or estrogenic supplements repeatedly is dangerous because it is essentially taking a growth hormone without any other hormones to balance it. Such things, repeated, cause cancer.
Be very careful, and research. After trying it once, I don't think it works for most people.
I think it's ridiculous that you keep spewing your garbage on this board. Especially since your are the same woman who went to the ER for an ultrasound to see where you were when you had one scheduled in the coming days. Do us all a favor and stop posting on this board.
Because it's my middle name, so it is in my name, so I do care.
Nope.
I never told anyone to do it. I only answer the question "Did you take it and what did it do for you?"
