How often did you use your single stroller once you had #2? We have an umbrella and travel system stroller. I'm planning on getting a double, and wondering if we should hang on to the travel system stroller. Thoughts?
The stroller that goes to our travel system that we bought with DD1 has been sitting on our back deck unused since we bought our Phil & Teds a few months before DD2 was born (but the Phil & Teds can be a single or a double so we didn't need our Chicco Cortina once we had that). I didn't start putting DD2 in the stroller until she was 5.5-6 months old though so I used our P&T as a single for quite a while and just wore DD2 in an Ergo or Moby. Depending on what kind of stroller you get and what you plan on doing with the new baby (wearing vs. putting a carseat on a stroller attachment) it may make sense to keep your single or just go straight to a double.
I use our city select as a single quite a bit when DS2 was still at home and not goign to school with DS1 3 days a week. I still use it as a single when we go to DS1s speech therapy. I'll use it a lot again as a single with this new baby. We sold all our single strollers and got the city select b/c it is a double or single.
We have the City Mini double and the Chicco Cortina single that was part of our travel system. I never thought we'd use our single as much as we still do. Sometimes going out its easier to use the single. My DS is still in the infant seat so we stick him in the stroller with the car seat and my DD walks. Other times my DD goes in the single and I wear my DS. It's easier than lugging the double. We switch between the snake and double quite often and I didn't know we would be. I almost got rid of my single stroller and I'm glad we didn't.
We didn't end up getting a double. I wanted to wait until after the baby was born to see if I really needed it since they're so expensive. As it turned out my daughter (who wasn't ever really keen on riding in the stroller anyway) decided that strollers were for babies so we just kept on using our single when we needed it.
