So, we finally got around to telling my MIL about our battles with infertility. After quickly making some insensitive comments ("You're young" "It will happen" "All *** had to do was breathe on me and I got pregnant"), she finally got with the program and started offering us support. I'm just hoping I don't regret cluing her in...
Also, I was wondering if I could get some advice! We are on our 4th cycle of Clomid, but I'm not monitored (with the exception of blood work at the end of cycle #3). I ovulated cycle #1 (50mg), but didn't ovulate cycle 2 or 3. They upped me to 100mg this cycle, but I'm on CD 19 and still no ovulation (based on my OPK).
My OB/GYN wanted me to do a 5th cycle of Clomid, but I'm beginning to think I need some monitoring. This cycle I was feeling a pulling or tugging feeling and I'm so scared that I have a cyst or something.
Should I go ahead with a switch to an RE? Will I get more monitoring there?
Re: We told my MIL...and switching to an RE question
Get monitored!
Bloodwork cant tell you everything, and results could be thrown off from the development of cysts from Clomid. I would also suggest switching to a RE.
I too was on Clomid for 4 cycles and with zero monitoring, and now I'm on a forced break with cysts the size of softballs!

I will call tomorrow! I think I need to get a referral from my OB/GYN for insurance purposes.
Is anyone from Northern VA? Preferences between Shady Grove and Dominion Fertility?
Unfortunately I dont have any recs for a RE in that area, but I just wanted to say I'm from that area and hope to return in a few months! I miss it so much
Good luck with everything!
Make the switch to a RE! You are only allowed 6 Clomid cycles in a lifetime. You really want to make sure you don't waste them by not being monitored. It's also dangerous to not be getting u/s. You could end up with a cyst which can rupture a fallopian tube or end up HOM. Either way, you need to be monitored.
Good luck!
After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
No heartbeat at 10w6d
FET August 27,2012 = BFP!
It's a boy!
