Moms of 2 or more

So with my first pregnancy, I went out right away to buy books and started researching baby products. Im not that far along yet, but I feel like I should be doing something! Its making me feel unprepared. Im hoping the further along I get, Ill feel more prepared! I really dont think Ill change anything this next time around, unless of course we are forced by the baby. I am happy with how we have done things thus far though. I just keep thinking that Im forgetting something....am I? Haha Did you feel the same?

  • you are 5 weeks pregnant?  I didn't do a single thing at that time...or for awhile after that.  You have plenty of time still.  Plus, there isn't too much to do with the second since you already have most of the baby stuff from #1.  I didn't plan/buy until 3rd tri

Yeah, I figured I'd do most things in 3rd tri like buy extra monitor and stuff. The reason why I feel like I should be doing something is bc I remember with the first getting busy fairly quickly. I know I have plenty of time though.

  • I can't think of anything you CAN do, really. I didnt even buy any clothes or anything until around 33 weeks with #2. Just try to enjoy this pregnancy without worrying about any self imposed checklists (babies dont care about them anyway!).

Thank for the reassurance. It is definitely nice to not have things to worry about! Just enjoying my alone time with DD is so nice. Earlier she fell asleep in the car, I brought her inside and she was still asleep. So I let her sleep on me until she woke up. I kept thinking that in 9 months, it wont be just us anymore! Im excited, but it definitely made me emo.

  • I'm also 5 weeks along. Other than looking for nursery ideas on Pinterest, I haven't done anything.  I don't plan to buy anything until after we know the sex. I do plan to tell our pedi at DS's 15 month check up to see if he recommends anything to prepare DS for the new baby.

  • I didn't have anything done until I was well into my third trimester...I had no time. I was chasing around a newly walking toddler. I was definitely more laid back about things the second time around.

I wouldn't get too caught up on trying to do things the same way you did with your first. My two sons are complete opposites of each other. What worked for my first didn't work for my second most of the time.

  • I didn't really do anything besides take belly pics until the end of my second pregnancy. We really didn't need anything new besides a double stroller, and my H surprised me with that on Christmas which was three months before my due date. We kept the nursery the same which made it easier, but we didn't move DD1 into her big girl room until a month before my due date, which meant I didn't even start unpacking and washing and sorting all of the baby clothes until then.

  • I think at 5 weeks, there's not much to do and you might want to wait a little later to do anything anyway, like maybe wait til the end of 1st trimester.  Plus, a lot of stuff centers around the gender for most people, so until you know that (unless you're team green), there's not much to do anyway.  So just enjoy the early weeks and hopefully you won't get sick!

  • Apart from take occasional belly pics, I did very little the whole 1st half of the pregnancy. Then, at the big U/S when they told me another girl, I did even less because I already knew I had everything covered!
