Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

XP:If you have 2u2 and got NB photos done w/#2

What did you end up with for sibling photos? I'm looking online for ideas, but mostly seeing sibling photos with older sibs, not 2U2.  My DS will be 16ish months by the time #2 comes and I want to get some good shots of them together, but I'm not sure how that will work.

TIA!

  • Not sure what you mean by, 'how that will work' ...like just trying to rangle a 16m to do whatever and pray the newbie is on best behavor? LOL, good luck with that.

If you just want ideas, I've seen some of infant in seat and toddler kissing head/hand of infant.

Or laying down, sorta head to head (head in neck/shoulder area, sorry I can't describe that better) and it's an aerial shot.

  • One of my friends wanted to practice with my newborn, so I have newborn shots for #2 but not #1.  We didn't do any sibling shots (we actually don't have any sibling shots period because #1 isn't a cuddly/want to hold baby type) and I was just fine with that!  I would rather have sibling shots later when they are both happy then have them done now and fight to get an "ok" picture.

  • You can have DS hold the new baby's hand, get a shot of both their feet, them laying next to each other.

Will the photographer be coming to your house? Do they bring props? If so I'm sure they will have lots of suggestions.

Also, maybe you could them something that matches, like the same hat or striped socks or something like that? Nothing too matchy-matchy if that' s not your thing, but just something little. Evn putting them both in white onesies would be adorable.

DS loves holding hands-I'll for sure have them do this!

I'm not sure what the photographer has for props-guess I'll discuss that when I call her tomorrow.

  • My 2 are 17mos apart and I was surprised at how well the pictures came out. DD just loved DS and always wants to kiss him. The first time she said baby was when she met her little brother in the hospital-she hasn't stopped saying it since. For NB photos, we laid DS in a basket and she stood behind it and grinned at him and reached down and touched him and kissed him on her own.

  • DS1 was 14 months old when DS2 was born. We got pictures done at the picture people. We had DS1 sit behind DS2 and DS2 was laying on a cushion with a blanket over it. Obviously DS1 wouldn't sit still for very long and we had to keep redirecting him back to the photo shoot, but all in all we got some good shots.

We also had DS1 sit on a small wooden step stool next to DS2 who was still laying on the cushion.

  • I'm actually learning how to photograph newborns, but in my research I came across this photographer who put a cheerio on the baby's head and the toddler had to eat it off his head.  I thought it was weird, but the photo makes it look like he's kissing his brother on the head.  I like the more natural poses, like maybe them just laying side by side on a bed or something.  Maybe check Pinterest?
