Anyone have any experience with a doula during childbirth? What are your thoughts on using them as a coach to attempt a natural, intervention-free (as much as possible) delivery. Also, any recommendations for someone who works in the Howard County area?

Re: Doulas?
My bosses wife is a doula. Her name is Julie Grove.
Her website is charmcitydoula.com
& Congrats
I didn't hire a doula, but my mother acted as a doula during my daughter's birth. I loved having her there to support both me and my husband. I definitely would recommend having an additional support person there who is familiar with natural childbirth. I think using a doula as a coach is an awesome idea, but I would also do your homework beforehand so you are prepared and have a plan. I found that I didn't really want to be coached during my daughter's birth, just supported.
My childbirth instructor (Ludia Sarmast) is also a doula, and she is fantastic. Good luck!
