Baby Names

Uggghhhhh.... Baby name issues and we're not even PG yet!

DH's family all has A names.  We said when we got married we would not do any more A names for our children.  Why oh why oh why does he pick Abigail??  And it's one of my favorite names (after Abby from NCIS).  Abigail Shea to be exact.  I love it yet I hate it all at once!!  Of course he doesn't want a girl at all.  He is determined to have a boy.  LOL But in the off chance it is a girl that's what he likes.  He also likes Casey and Nathan and I said absolutely not.  Casey will always remind me of Casey Anthony and I've never liked Nathan.

  • stop talking about names until you're pregnant and know the sex. There's no use in arguing over it now. And I think it's silly that you won't consider Abigail JUST because it happens to fit in his family tradition. If you love the name you should use it.
  • I know I'll consider it.  His family is Alice, Andy, Allan & Alvin.  It's just all the hoping that we're PG soon so we can start planning already.  I'm a big planner!

Plus, there's not an "off chance" you'll have a girl. Both of your attitudes about it seems off to me.

  • I should have put the off chance in quotes.  I put it jokingly.  I know it's totally up to his sperm to decide what we have.  I'll just be happy to have H&H and I know he will too.   My head isn't screwed on right right now.  I have a migraine the size of Kentucky and I have no migraine meds left.  I am also waiting for AF to come before taking anything that powerful.  The words sound right in my head but aren't translating right on the screen.

  • You're not married (not that you need to be), but most importantly you're not pregnant. This is not the time to obsess over names. One day at a time!

  • There are lots of us on the name board that are not currently pregnant. You are free to obsess about names! But, probably not time to argue about names with each other. Keep an open mind and cross that bridge when you get to it. Good like TTC!

Yes, 100%.  There's nothing wrong with talking about names before getting PG.  Now if it's leading to strong arguments, then maybe it's time to step back a little.  DH and I talk names allllll the time.

  • I would just back off the name talk until you're pregnant.

  • Talking about names is totally acceptable before you're pregnant, but fighting over names is 100% crazycakes.

I love names and I love to talk/think about names all the time. But this seems to be adding stress to your life, and that's just not right. Leave the name discussion alone until you get your BFP! (I hope it happens soon for you! Babies are the best!)

  • Nothing wrong with chatting about names or bickering (if all in fun) over them which is what it sounds like to me. If you like Abigail, USE IT, its a great name. Just don't use A names for all your kids like they did in his family. My DH's family is the same way and I'll be damn if I name mine with all the same initials.

  • I obsessed over names for years so don't listen to that foolishness. I wanted Ella and DH hates it.  Keep looking you'll find something it took us a long time to come up with Mila.  Our boys name was Maxwell I actually really like Nathan but its my hubbys name so maybe that's why I like it.

Get a name book we got the biggest one we could find lol
