Hi!  MH and I have been TTC since June with no luck.  I would recommend that you visit the Trying to Get Pregnant board.  There is a newbie link at the top of that board that has quite a bit of useful information and tips on ways to increase your chances of success (charting BBT, using OPKs, etc).  And the ladies on the board are very helpful!  Good luck!!

To make you feel better, I also have PCOS and I am pregnant with my second.  It is possible and I wouldn't allow that to deter you.

Hi!  I was in the same boat.... I was on birth control for 12 years and once we decided to try to conceive and stopped the pill we tried for about a year without success.  Like you, I was diagnosed with PCOS.

I found a wonderful fertility specialist in Pittsburgh-  Dr. Judith Albert, the office is called Reproductive Health Specialists (ivfpittsburgh.com).  You and your husband have to go through a few tests so they can figure out what will work will for.  We did Clomid for 4 months (the next step was a IUI) and got pregnant on the 4th try- We are expecting a baby boy in June!

I would definitely recommend RHS! fyi- it does take about a month to get a appointment as a first-timer.

     Good luck!

    Hi,

I have been TTC for four years.  I was on birth control for 8 years when I stopped to try and get pregnant.  It was after that when I was diagnosed with PCOS and Endo.  We did Clomid for 12 months and had two surgeries to remove cysts, polyps and correct a defect in my uteris.  I started seeing Dr Erb (also with Reproductive Health Specialists) a year ago.  If you are going to a specialist, I highly recommend them.  They are extremely easy to work with and so understanding.  We are waiting for the latest round of cysts to go away, and then we plan to start IUI.

I wish you all the best!!

    Hi there =-)

My story began a few years ago, when I got pregnant as soon as we started trying.  I ended up losing that pregnancy in the first trimester.  I assumed I would get pregnant again right away, but after a year I wasn't pregnant yet.  I tracked ovulation very carefully every month, timed everything right, got periods each month, and yet nothing was happening.

One thing I noticed is that after my loss, my periods were shorter - only around 24 or 25 days instead of the 28-30 they used to be.  I suspected a luteal phase defect, as a result of the loss.  Basically, my hormones were falling before an egg would have time to implant.  So even if I was conceiving, I wouldn't know because my period would be triggered too soon.

I ended up on Clomid, and was able to conceive on the first try with that.  In addition to using Clomid, I also started using a lubricant called Pre-Seed.  I was using it the first time I conceived as well, so I swear by it.  If you aren't using that, I would definitely try it out.  I also tracked ovulation with OPK's & basal body thermometer.  Those 2 things really helped me out with timing as well.

TTC is such a process for some of us, but fortunately most problems are fixable.  Figuring out what the problem is sometimes is the most taxing part.  Knowing you have PCOS is the first step - lots of women with it get pregnant.  With careful tracking, you will hopefully find yourself pregnant in time too.  You're not alone.  I had a mentally & physically painful couple of years, but I look at my baby girl every day and realize that this path was meant for me, because she was meant for me.  It was just a longer path to get her.  I wish you the best of luck & tons of baby dust! Smile

We also took a little while TTC. I had been on the pill for 14yrs. I assumed I'd get pregnant quickly but didn't. After 9 months of trying, my obgyn performed an HSG to see if my tubes were open and also because the test in itself can "open things up" a little and help things move along. It worked and we were pregnant the next month. I miscarried at week 6. We were told to wait a couple of months and try again. I bought a clearblue easy fertility monitor and tried again two months later.  It worked again and now I just got to week 7...hopefully this one holds on :)

I highly recommend the clearblue easy fertility monitor. I got mine on eBay & it pinpointed the best days to TTC.  I also used pre-seed and recommend it.

We haven't gone to a specialist but a friend of mine goes to Dr. Zigrossi in the north hills & she adores him. He came highly recommended to her from a co-worker who has success with him.

If you're open to it, acupuncture in conjunction with western medicine is another route you can consider.

     Good luck!!!

I truley want to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time out and providing your stories and encouraging words.  I appreciate each story and all the great suggestions.  I see that there is alot to learn about TTC.  I have enjoyed getting to know a little about each and everyone of you through your trials and successes, which continues to provide me with a glimmer of hope.  I now understand that having PCOS is not the end of the world and that conceiving is still a possibility.

I have not shared my story or progress with anyone else besides you lovely ladies and my hubby of course, just not ready for the questions and answers at this time.  I have continued to work through many of my personal fears (needles) to progress closer toward my little bundle of joy.  As many of you know that several tests are necessary to diagnose and assess the treatment inorder to successfully conceive.

I have GREAT news and nope it's not that I am pregnant (yet)  :).  I had an appointment today with my specialist, Dr.Scott Kauma at West Penn, where he preformed the HSG test (which checks the conditions of your fallopian tubes, whether they are open or not) and was told that my tubes are fine.  This was a great sign of releif.  I have to get my husbands sperm tested and then we can begin with our necessary treatment.  Looks like clomid is what we may be going with.

I will continue to provide my progress and successes on here for those of you who would like to follow me in this journey of life, and I will also enjoy to continue reading your stories, suggestions, remedies, and advices.  Your time and experiences are truley appreciated and I wish you all well.

Have a wonderful Valentines Day Wink
