thoughts on the name Cade?

We're looking for a strong one-syllable name...not popular, but also not obscure. Just wondering what the overall opinion is on the name.

It's okay! It's not a name I like or dislike. There are a few boys in the school where I teach named Cade/Kade.

Sounds like the name for a character in a novel. NMS but I don't hate it.

Like PPs are suggesting, it sounds too much like a short for a different name. However, it is not horrible.

We're fans of one syllable strong names also.  Cade was on our short list with DS. It's no longer on our short list this time around though.

This became our issue.  DH LOVES the name Cade, I tried really hard to get on board, but I just couldn't past the fact it reminded me of Cait as in Caitlin (and DH has a sister named Caitlin so that was tough to get over), or a nn for Cadence.  That and every time I told someone the name they went. "KABE?  Spell it for me... you mean Ca-lEB?"  When I wrote it, my bff pronounced it Cad-y.  We are now considering it as mn... anyways, it's one of those names I think sounds good with the right last name, but it just didn't work for us.
