? about toddler bed

Sophee is one and will be 16 months when McKenzee arrives. McK will sleep in our room for a few months then go to Sophee's old room. Sophee will have a new room with toddler bed. She will be 18/19 months, is that too young for the transition? I didn't think so, but my DH questioned it so I thought I would ask you ladies. We were definately going to do it at age 2 (which is 4 months later), so I didn't see a difference in starting early since McK will be here. TIA

Re: ? about toddler bed

  • I moved my DD to a regular twin bed (daybed) at 16 months and it has been fine. I would not go out and purchase another crib mattress and toddler bed only to have to transition them again to a twin at some later point. It seems easier to just move them to their big girl bed instead.

  • We moved DS to a toddler bed around 20 months only because DD was due and we didn't want to have to buy another crib.  The transition was ok...DS had a lot of sleeping issues and slept in our bed a lot.  The toddler bed we had just didn't suit him very well.  The way the side rail was, it wasn't long enough down the bed and DS was so restless, he would end up half on the floor and half on the bed.  He's wake up and come in our bed.  We eventually got him a full bed with a full bed rail and he slept so much better.
