I like Alessandra, and Alexandria, but I have my issues with both.
Alessandra: I feel like people would rarely call her by Alessandra, and just shorten it to a nickname instead. I know I would from time to time, but I feel that most people would just use a nickname. And I really can't be bothered to constantly correct people on calling her by her full name.
Alexandria: I feel like it's too long. 4 syllables is pushing it, but 5 is really pushing it.
So I was thinking of Alexandra, I feel that people are more likely to say Alexandra over Alessandra, even though the nickname issue is still prevalent. But I'm worried it's too "Common" and "been there done that many times". Especially because one of the middle names is likely to be Charlotte. Almost like how Emma has become.
I really love Alex- names and their variants. But the the other ones aren't right either. I'd love to use Aleksandra, but DH won't let me.
Re: Alexandra...is it too "done"?
I think Alexandra is a classic name like Elizabeth or Emily, etc, and not too "done." But, I do think people will probably want to shorten it to Alex, Lexi, Ali, etc. Charlotte is a pretty middle name; IMO Marie and Grace are more "done" middle names than Charlotte.
Alexandra Charlotte is very pretty!
Agree totally. It's classic, it's pretty, it's elegant, and I don't think you'll have any problem with people trying to spell it or pronounce it.
I love the name Alix, as in Alix of Hesse who married Nicholas II of Russia and was given the name Alexandra upon their marriage and her taking on the Russian Orthodox faith. I'm a big Romanov history nerd, so I have a fondness for Alexandra.

i love the name alexandra! it's one of my favorites.
i strongly dislike alexandria.
i agree with everyone else, alexandra is a classic name that i don't hear often. actually, i don't know anyone named alexandra.
i prefer the nickname allie, but alex is cute too
So do you not want a nickname at all? Because even though Alexandra is shorter, I think people with call her Alex. Maybe not when she's really young because you can control it a little more, but when she gets a little older they will.
I say go with the name you like best. I think they're all pretty, but I like Alessandra best. You don't hear it a lot, but it's very feminine and beautiful. I could see people eventually calling her Alex or Alessa. I agree with your DH about Aleksandra. I know it's a legit spelling, but it looks kind of off.
Oh no, no. I love nicknames! But I don't see the point in naming someone something they'll never be called you know? I feel that with Alessandra/Alexandria people will more likely resort to a nickname, rather than say the full name. I'd want the name to be used in full a good portion of the time as well.
Ahaha, yeah, DH says it looks misspelled or too "Dutch" looking, and "We aren't Dutch.", lol. Last name would be Edwards, so Aleksandra Edwards is too much for him.
I might be biased - Alexandra is my name. I don't think it is overdone. It's a pretty name. I go by Ali and there are quite a few nice NNs for it. I hate when people call me Alexandria - it is a totally different name with a very different sound.
Good luck choosing!!!
I love Alexandra and DD#2 is Alessandra. We love that there are so many nicknames to choose from and she can decide as she gets older.
There are some that call her Ally but most people call her Alessandra (we do get a few that think her name is Alexandra and call her that too). I alternate between Ally and Alessandra. She answers to both and can say both names (she just turned 2). I find most people will follow the parents' lead on what to call the child - if you give the full name, most people will follow suit and use the full name as well.
DD#1 is Arianna and we call her Anna (pronounced Ah-na) most of the time. Her coaches, etc call her Arianna and if she wants to give them a nickname, she tells them to call her "Anna." She seems to prefer her full name so that is what most call her.
