Cloth Diapering

Recommend your fitted for night time

I have been using pockets for ON but I'd like to try fitteds with covers (maybe wool eventually?) for ON.  My LO's pajamas just don't fit over her huge diaper, so I'm hoping this will cut down on bulk.  And, I just like the idea of trying new things.  So please recommend your fitted diaper for overnight.

Also, the only covers I have right now are Flips.  Can I use these for ON with Fitteds or is there a better option.

Clearly completely clueless about this so I need all the help I can get.

Re: Recommend your fitted for night time

  • By the time you put on a fitted (fully stuffed for overnight), it's going to be just as bulky as a pocket.  It is what it is, and it's only for overnight, so we deal.  We often put footies (WCW brand) and a long sleeved t-shirt on her instead of regular jammies, though her regular footie pajamas fit over her diaper at night too.  We use Bububebe, Twinkie Tush, or Sbish diapers overnight.  I like the Bububebe the best, as well as TT.  Sbish aren't quite as absorbent.  My FAVORITE (and least bulky) is the Old School Cool fitted.  LOVE it.  I have to add a hemp doubler to every overnight diaper, with the exception of OSC.  Love them.

  • Thanks for the reply!  I didn't realize they were just as bulky.  What are the benefits of using a fitted w/ cover vs. a pocket?  Is it just purely preference?

I will definitely still check out what you recommended.  Thanks!

I agree with pp about about the bulk. DS is usually in a larger size for jammies and I orefer feetieebecause then I don't have to worry about pants getting sucked into the diaper. I used pockets until recently but I'm liking fitteds now and I haven't even paired it with a wool soaker yet. I've had stink problems with microfiber and may resort to boiling and or bleaching these and I know I can do more without having the PUL attached. I bought the thirsties microfiber and they come with a sewn in fleece liner and an open area for stuffing. I stuff with a hemp insert. Absorbency is great.

Thanks! We are having issues with stink when she wakes up in the morning with the pockets, so I'm hoping this might help! What cover do you use with your fitteds? Or did you mean you didn't need a cover with it at all (or just not wool)?

  • My ON fitteds with wool soakers are WAY more bulky than her daytime pocket diapers-I just size up for jammies. My favorite ON fitteds are Old School Cool, Monkey Snuggles ON, and Bububebe. We also have to use hemp inserts with them, as LO is a heavy wetter. I bought my first wool soaker from Ocean Babies on etsy for $12, and have made several more on my own from thrift store sweaters-fairly easy to make, if you have any sewing experience. You can use a PUL cover with a fitted instead of wool, if you prefer, but wool breathes more.
